New Design Team for Winter 2016

Hello, everyone!!! I hope you all had a Happy Holiday and a safe New Year's Eve last night. I was a young mom (my oldest will be TWENTY in March, right around the corner) so I got in the habit of staying in for New Year's Eve a longggg time ago. We always order Chinese food, have a couple of drinks and hangout playing games, listening to music, with the occasional dance party (even if it's from the couch. LOL) Whoot! I actually quite like being home, safe and sound with my hubby and the kids. Most of the time, there's nowhere else I'd rather be! ;) Last night my cousin and her hubby who was friend of my husband's (they met through us) stayed over and we had a nice big breakfast this morning, complete with BACON and lots of coffee! My hubby had to work early. #RetailLife Boo, but it's always nice getting to spend time with them and I was always a fan of sleepovers. (Right, Lis? hehe) I hope you all enjoyed whatever you did to ring in the New Year!

I'm here to introduce the newest Design Team members for the next term, January through April. As always, we had lots of talented applicants and it's so tough to narrow them down to just five. Please don't be discouraged if you applied. I always pick new DT members to be fair to newbies and experienced card makers and scrappers alike. I've had several first time DT members who have done an amazing job. I just adore all of my girls. They're some of the most creative, talented, supportive, and sweet people out there and I'm truly a lucky girl. Thank you, ladies, for all you do. <3

So here we goooooo...

Cynde Whitlow is joining us from Montana. I've been a fan of her work on Instagram and when she first applied for the team last term, her personality really stuck out to me. She describes her blended family as the Brady Bunch if it were an 80's hair  band. bwahahahahahaha She does a super fabulous job with coloring and watercolor and I'm thrilled she reapplied and is joining us this term!

Lindsay Amrhein is the next lovely lady joining the team this term. She's married, with 2 children from Ohio and enjoys reading, camping and hiking, along with card making of course! She's also a Design Team member for the Memory Box, Avery Elle and Taylored Expressions challenge blogs, which are just a few of the fabulous companies the shop carries!!!

Janette Kausen is a mom of four daughters from California and my West Coast doppelganger. HAHA She loves many other crafty hobbies like quilting and beading. Janette is another two-timer (applications, people! hehe) with a personality I adore. This term is going to be a FUN one!!! Now how YUMMY does this look?!

Next up is Erin Schreiner. She's a married, fab mom of 3 beautiful kids from TX. What can I say? Erin's lengthy DT app won me over. bwhahahahahaha Seriously though, she's been a friend for a while and I love her style. I think we've got the spunk covered this term. For sure!

Last but most certainly not least is Amy Lee who you might know from IG as The Craft Bunny. Amy is a new card maker, having only been in this hobby for about 7 months. Looking at her creations, you would NEVER ever guess that. She does some very adorable work and I'm excited to have her joining us as well. Check out this cutie!

So these are our new girls joining us!!! I'm excited about having each of them and can't wait to see what they'll be creating for us this term starting here in just a couple of days. Please make sure you're following us on Instagram so you can see their creations DAILY along with keeping up to date with new products arriving in the shop and yes, also some pics of me and my family life. Life's too complicated for any more social media accounts. HAHA

This past year was simply fantastic for my shop. I tripled my business from the previous year which was a huge milestone for me so THANK YOU for your support throughout the year. It went out with a week long sale which many of you took advantage of which boosted me over a major goal I was trying to achieve so again, many thanks!!! I'm looking forward to continuing to bring you the newest products which will be getting sneaked from CHA next week and YESSS, I will be there scoping things out, posting pictures and ordering up for the shop so start saving your pennies. I'll also be getting to meet up with some of my super fabulous crafty friends so it's very exciting, but I'm also terrified of flying so I'm just hoping to get there and home safely. EEK! Wish me luck!

Wishing you health, happiness and all the best in 2016. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Vanessa

Baby Tags featuring the We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool!

Happy Monday! This is Kim Hamilton and I am so very excited to be sharing my first post with you for Butterfly Reflections Ink! This is making my first day back to work after a two-week break a happy one! I am sharing baby gift tags today, one of my friends is expecting and not sure what she is having so I made one of each! I used my  We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool  for the first time and loved it! I cut my own  Tim Holtz watercolor paper  to the size of tag I wanted (2 3/4 x 4 1/4) and cut the edges with my trimmer.  I stamped my sentiments that are by  Lawn Fawn Hello Baby  with VersaMark ink and used white embossing powder. For the girl tag I used a mix of Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Abandoned Coral  Distress Inks  and for the boy tag I used Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron  Distress Inks .  I sprayed both tags with some water and dabbed it off. I then stamped my images by My Favorite Things  Snuggle Bunnies  for the girl and Magical Dragons for th

Painting backwards....

Hello, hello!  Norine here from The Velvet Lemon blog .  It's been a week for introductions hasn't it, but let me just say how delighted I am to have been invited to join such a talented group of paper crafters, and to contribute here at Butterfly Reflections Ink!   Today I'm sharing with you, some cards I made by working backwards.  What do I mean, you wonder?  Well, it's a technique I sometimes enjoy doing, where you "smoosh" your water based ink pads on a craft mat, mist the colors with water and then drag your water color paper through it to create a pretty mess of color.     For today's cards, I wanted a blend of blues and greens (always a crowd pleaser) and yellows/pinks.  You will always be happier with the results when you keep the green/blues from overlapping with the yellow/pinks, because that just produces an unappealing mud color.   I used a variety of Tim Holtz Distress Inks for this project, but any water based inks w

Altenew’s 4th Anniversary Blog Hop Day 3 + Giveaway

Hey, hey BRI friends!  We're hopping today to celebrate the 4th Birthday of Altenew , one of our favorite stamping companies!  You should have arrived here from the Altenew blog , and we're glad you're here to share the excitement! There are prizes and inspiration and it's going to be FUN! With you today, is Norine from The Velvet Lemon  creating for Butterfly Reflections Ink  and I have some projects to share today, that I made using some recently released Altenew products .   First up, are these two cards created with the Mega Succulent stamp set .   I stamped the image onto water color paper using the MISTI , then turned on the music and sat and colored.   I used Faber Castell watercolor pencils so I could more easily control where the color would sit and then painted with a water brush .  I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of vellum, heat embossed with clear embossing powder to ensure that the ink wouldn't smudge, then tore the vel
