Open DT Call for Spring/Summer Term

Hi, everyone! I know many of you dislike winter and can't wait for it to finally be over. It's been rainy here in NH, but it's dropping back into the 30's over the next couple of days and we're supposed to see a bit more snow so we're not *quite* there yet. We bought some seeds and fruit trees at Lowe's the other day and my hubby is going to build a raised bed vegetable garden for the first time. He did start some seeds and potted some strawberries which are already sprouting here in the kitchen. The kids got garden tools in their Easter baskets and are excited for this project. My orchid is also on it's way back to life and there are some little buds blooming outside so spring IS coming. It's also birthday season here in our house. My hubby celebrated his March 21st, my oldest son turned 20 (yes, TWENTY... whoah!) on the 30th and my little guy will be 8 coming up on April 8th. Fun fun!!!

April showers bring May flowers... and a new Design Team call. I just realized a few days ago that April had crept up on me and that this was the last month for the current Design Team's term. Time really flies when you're having fun and things run so smoothly. I hope you've been enjoying their creations. I've been really lucky with ALL my girls and we're looking to add a few new members to our fabulous bunch!!! Are you interested in becoming a Butterfly Inker?!

If so, please send us 3-5 samples of your most recent creations to butterflyinkersDT@gmail.com. Your samples can be cards, layouts and/or pocket style pages or any other paper crafting projects. While I don't sell 12x12 paper currently due to the cost of shipping, I do sell SCRAPBOOKING items and always get the newest collections. It seems I've become kind of the go-to stamp shop which is GREAT, but I'd really like to expand selling more other products. If you've applied for the team before, PLEASE make sure you're sending NEW artwork. We'd also like links to your online galleries, blogs, YouTube channels, etc., anything that will give us an idea of what your creative style and abilities are. Please include if you are currently or have been on any other Design Teams in the past and tell us a little about yourself in a short bio. It is NOT necessary that you have been on any Design Teams, I have had quite a few newbies join our team and they've been a great addition!!!

This is a 4 month commitment starting in May and going through August so if you love spring, summer, flowers, sunshine and rainbows... haha, this could be the term for you! You must be willing to create 4 projects per month with one blog post per week. Sometimes an additional project will be asked for and appreciated. We have a monthly mood board that we're trying to incorporate somehow so the extra project would likely be related to that. We do ask that you be exclusive to the online shop for Design Team work. You can design for manufacturers, blogs, kit clubs, etc., but we would appreciate it if you stuck with our online shop only for the 4 month term. We are always trying to expand and gain new customers as growth is mandatory for a small business so sharing links to the shop is required at a minimum of 3 times a week via various social media outlets. This is a BIG part of the DT's job and we appreciate you helping us get the word out. You can post links to your own blog posts, projects shared on FB/IG, a teammates fabulous creation, your favorite current products, sales, etc. There is ALWAYS something to share and again, a main part of the "job".

In return for your creations and promotion, you will get $30.00 worth of FREE product each month. In addition, you will also get a 25% discount to use as much as you'd like throughout the term. The shop is FULL of fabulous products with more coming in regularly and you'll be able to get yourself some at a generous discount. Now who doesn't love that?!

If it sounds like a good opportunity for you, please send us your application!!! The deadline is April 17, 2016. We will go over all the applications and choose the best fit for the shop shortly after. Thank you again for the continued support and we look forward to seeing all of your incredible creations!!! Oh and don't forget to check out our 5000 follower GIVEAWAY on Instagram if you haven't already. I'm happy to be giving away two fun prizes for helping me reach these huge milestones. I have some exciting things ahead and can't wait to see what the rest of this year has in store for the shop!

Happy Spring!!!

Vanessa

Baby Tags featuring the We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool!

Happy Monday! This is Kim Hamilton and I am so very excited to be sharing my first post with you for Butterfly Reflections Ink! This is making my first day back to work after a two-week break a happy one! I am sharing baby gift tags today, one of my friends is expecting and not sure what she is having so I made one of each! I used my  We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool  for the first time and loved it! I cut my own  Tim Holtz watercolor paper  to the size of tag I wanted (2 3/4 x 4 1/4) and cut the edges with my trimmer.  I stamped my sentiments that are by  Lawn Fawn Hello Baby  with VersaMark ink and used white embossing powder. For the girl tag I used a mix of Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Abandoned Coral  Distress Inks  and for the boy tag I used Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron  Distress Inks .  I sprayed both tags with some water and dabbed it off. I then stamped my images by My Favorite Things  Snuggle Bunnies  for the girl and Magical Dragons for th

Painting backwards....

Hello, hello!  Norine here from The Velvet Lemon blog .  It's been a week for introductions hasn't it, but let me just say how delighted I am to have been invited to join such a talented group of paper crafters, and to contribute here at Butterfly Reflections Ink!   Today I'm sharing with you, some cards I made by working backwards.  What do I mean, you wonder?  Well, it's a technique I sometimes enjoy doing, where you "smoosh" your water based ink pads on a craft mat, mist the colors with water and then drag your water color paper through it to create a pretty mess of color.     For today's cards, I wanted a blend of blues and greens (always a crowd pleaser) and yellows/pinks.  You will always be happier with the results when you keep the green/blues from overlapping with the yellow/pinks, because that just produces an unappealing mud color.   I used a variety of Tim Holtz Distress Inks for this project, but any water based inks w

Altenew’s 4th Anniversary Blog Hop Day 3 + Giveaway

Hey, hey BRI friends!  We're hopping today to celebrate the 4th Birthday of Altenew , one of our favorite stamping companies!  You should have arrived here from the Altenew blog , and we're glad you're here to share the excitement! There are prizes and inspiration and it's going to be FUN! With you today, is Norine from The Velvet Lemon  creating for Butterfly Reflections Ink  and I have some projects to share today, that I made using some recently released Altenew products .   First up, are these two cards created with the Mega Succulent stamp set .   I stamped the image onto water color paper using the MISTI , then turned on the music and sat and colored.   I used Faber Castell watercolor pencils so I could more easily control where the color would sit and then painted with a water brush .  I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of vellum, heat embossed with clear embossing powder to ensure that the ink wouldn't smudge, then tore the vel
