DT Open Call for September-December Term

Hi, everyone! I hope you're all enjoying the summer. My daughter celebrated her 6th birthday a week ago so we had a pool party for her last weekend. The kids have really been enjoying the pool for sure and both are now swimming. Avery is a little fish and can swim the length of the pool underwater and we haven't done swim lessons or anything. Andrew can flip into the pool and is starting to want to do tricks on his bike. Fun, fun! We went camping a couple of weekends ago and have another camping trip coming up. The kids also went to day camp for a week this month and will go again one week in August. It's helping the time go by a little quicker and giving me a little sanity. ;) We're trying to hit a water park before summer's end and perhaps take a mini road trip down to RI/CT to visit their zoo and aquarium. That's a little update on my end and hope all of you and your families are well.

Now onto why I'm here! It's that time again and ALREADY! I think these terms just fly by and I'm sure the girls feel the same way. It's been fun adding new talent to the team and seeing their creations every week. I'm once again looking for FIVE new members to join our ever growing team. Big shout out to all the girls who have chosen to stick with me and help me achieve my goals. Love you all!

What do you need to do to apply? Easy! Just send us 5 samples of your most recent creations to butterflyinkersDT@gmail.com. Your samples can be cards, layouts, Project Life pages or any other crafty project. I feel like my shop has kind of become a stamper's/cardmaker's go to which makes sense because I started off with a love of stamps and that's still my first choice when I splurge, even though I never find the time to play... which I REALLY need to!

If you've applied for the team before, PLEASE make sure you're sending NEW artwork. We'd also like links to your online galleries, blogs, YouTube channels, etc., anything that will give us an idea of what your creative style and abilities are. Please include if you are currently or have been on any other Design Teams in the past and tell us a little about yourself in a short bio.

This is a 4 month commitment starting in September and going through December. You must be willing to create 4 projects per month with one blog post per week. Sometimes an additional project might be asked for and is appreciated. We do ask that you be exclusive to the online shop for Design Team work. You can design for manufacturers, blogs, kit clubs, etc., but we would appreciate it if you stuck with our online shop only for the 4 month term. We are always trying to expand and gain new customers so sharing links to the shop is required at a minimum of 3 times a week via various social media outlets. This is a big part of the DT's job and we appreciate you helping us get the word out. You can post links to your own blog posts, projects shared on FB/IG, a teammates fabulous creation, your favorite current products, sales, etc. There is ALWAYS something to share and again, a main part of the "job".

In return for your creations and promotion, you will get $30.00 worth of FREE product of your choice each month. In addition, you will also get a 25% discount to use as much as you'd like. The shop is FULL of fabulous products with more coming in regularly and you'll be able to get yourself some at a generous discount. Who doesn't love that?!

If you LOVE fall and holiday crafting, this is definitely the term for you!!! If it sounds like fun and a great opportunity for you, please send us your application!!! The deadline is August 19, 2016. We will go over all the applications and choose the best fit for the shop. Thank you for the continued support and we look forward to seeing all of your incredible creations. Happy Crafting!

Vanessa

  1. Do the people who generally make the DT have tons of experience or are they rookies? I'd consider myself a rookie but I'm interested. 😊

Baby Tags featuring the We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool!

Happy Monday! This is Kim Hamilton and I am so very excited to be sharing my first post with you for Butterfly Reflections Ink! This is making my first day back to work after a two-week break a happy one! I am sharing baby gift tags today, one of my friends is expecting and not sure what she is having so I made one of each! I used my  We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool  for the first time and loved it! I cut my own  Tim Holtz watercolor paper  to the size of tag I wanted (2 3/4 x 4 1/4) and cut the edges with my trimmer.  I stamped my sentiments that are by  Lawn Fawn Hello Baby  with VersaMark ink and used white embossing powder. For the girl tag I used a mix of Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Abandoned Coral  Distress Inks  and for the boy tag I used Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron  Distress Inks .  I sprayed both tags with some water and dabbed it off. I then stamped my images by My Favorite Things  Snuggle Bunnies  for the girl and Magical Dragons for th

Painting backwards....

Hello, hello!  Norine here from The Velvet Lemon blog .  It's been a week for introductions hasn't it, but let me just say how delighted I am to have been invited to join such a talented group of paper crafters, and to contribute here at Butterfly Reflections Ink!   Today I'm sharing with you, some cards I made by working backwards.  What do I mean, you wonder?  Well, it's a technique I sometimes enjoy doing, where you "smoosh" your water based ink pads on a craft mat, mist the colors with water and then drag your water color paper through it to create a pretty mess of color.     For today's cards, I wanted a blend of blues and greens (always a crowd pleaser) and yellows/pinks.  You will always be happier with the results when you keep the green/blues from overlapping with the yellow/pinks, because that just produces an unappealing mud color.   I used a variety of Tim Holtz Distress Inks for this project, but any water based inks w

Altenew’s 4th Anniversary Blog Hop Day 3 + Giveaway

Hey, hey BRI friends!  We're hopping today to celebrate the 4th Birthday of Altenew , one of our favorite stamping companies!  You should have arrived here from the Altenew blog , and we're glad you're here to share the excitement! There are prizes and inspiration and it's going to be FUN! With you today, is Norine from The Velvet Lemon  creating for Butterfly Reflections Ink  and I have some projects to share today, that I made using some recently released Altenew products .   First up, are these two cards created with the Mega Succulent stamp set .   I stamped the image onto water color paper using the MISTI , then turned on the music and sat and colored.   I used Faber Castell watercolor pencils so I could more easily control where the color would sit and then painted with a water brush .  I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of vellum, heat embossed with clear embossing powder to ensure that the ink wouldn't smudge, then tore the vel
