Welcoming the new Fall/Early Winter Design Team!!!

Hi, everyone!!! I hope you all enjoyed the rest of your summer. I know it's not technically over yet, but my kids went back to school Monday so it's starting to feel like fall here and I'm good with that. Fall is my favorite!!! <3

We had about 50 applicants for the Design Team this term and as always, I sincerely appreciate everyone that took the time to apply. Narrowing it down to 5 was so difficult that we ended up with 6 lovely new ladies! And here they are...

First up, you might recognize her from being our last month's Guest Designer. After having Gladys Marcelino apply for the team, we decided she'd make a great addition! Here's a beauty she created.

Next up, we have Vera Yates! You probably know Vera as the founder of the Caring Hearts Card Drive. She's also on the Design Teams for The Ton Stamps, SugarPea Designs, Purple Onion Designs and she's worked with several others! I can't see a Pug and not think of Vera. I was surprised and delighted that she applied to be on our Design Team because I love her cards. How can you not love THIS one?! Fabulous.

Next we have Cassie Tezak who currently designs for Mint Owl Studio which I carry in the shop! She likes to read, write and bake. Send treats STAT, Cassie. haha I love this card she created and her most recent balloon card she posted on IG is amazing. (You have to go check it out @creativelycass). She's got a way with colors. WOW! And how fun is this?! Is there a NKOTB cassette in there? HA!

Now let's move on up to Canada where our next DT member, Laurie Case, is from. Fitting that I decided to share this map card, eh? (See what I did there? LOL) I love the bright colors of this and man, she's got some floral tricks up her sleeve as well. Part of why I chose this lady is for her sense of humor. Anyone that responds to their acceptance e-mail the way that she did is good in my book! ;)

Karen Baker is also joining us this term! She's also on the Lil' Inker Designs DT. I love Laura, the owner of that company. I can't sell their products which is a bummer, but please go and check out her shop if you haven't already! Sorry, Karen, I had to dote on Laura for a sec. hehe Karen is a Graphic Designer and mom of 2 boys that finds time to craft at night. Pass the energy, Karen! Now check out this absolute stunner. Like WHOA! Gorgeous, right?!

Last but not least, Lynnea Hollendonner is joining us. She is quite a busy lady, being a foster mom, working full time as a server and also having a part time job teaching. You're making me feel like a slacker for quitting my PT job at M's now, Lynnea. haha She still finds time to craft and for that I'm glad because look at this guy!!! What's kracken?!

I'm so excited to welcome these talented ladies to the team and can't wait to see what they create. I'm sure you'll enjoy their projects as much as I will and I hope they'll also inspire you to create.

WELCOME, ladies!!! <3

Baby Tags featuring the We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool!

Happy Monday! This is Kim Hamilton and I am so very excited to be sharing my first post with you for Butterfly Reflections Ink! This is making my first day back to work after a two-week break a happy one! I am sharing baby gift tags today, one of my friends is expecting and not sure what she is having so I made one of each! I used my  We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool  for the first time and loved it! I cut my own  Tim Holtz watercolor paper  to the size of tag I wanted (2 3/4 x 4 1/4) and cut the edges with my trimmer.  I stamped my sentiments that are by  Lawn Fawn Hello Baby  with VersaMark ink and used white embossing powder. For the girl tag I used a mix of Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Abandoned Coral  Distress Inks  and for the boy tag I used Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron  Distress Inks .  I sprayed both tags with some water and dabbed it off. I then stamped my images by My Favorite Things  Snuggle Bunnies  for the girl and Magical Dragons for th

Painting backwards....

Hello, hello!  Norine here from The Velvet Lemon blog .  It's been a week for introductions hasn't it, but let me just say how delighted I am to have been invited to join such a talented group of paper crafters, and to contribute here at Butterfly Reflections Ink!   Today I'm sharing with you, some cards I made by working backwards.  What do I mean, you wonder?  Well, it's a technique I sometimes enjoy doing, where you "smoosh" your water based ink pads on a craft mat, mist the colors with water and then drag your water color paper through it to create a pretty mess of color.     For today's cards, I wanted a blend of blues and greens (always a crowd pleaser) and yellows/pinks.  You will always be happier with the results when you keep the green/blues from overlapping with the yellow/pinks, because that just produces an unappealing mud color.   I used a variety of Tim Holtz Distress Inks for this project, but any water based inks w

Altenew’s 4th Anniversary Blog Hop Day 3 + Giveaway

Hey, hey BRI friends!  We're hopping today to celebrate the 4th Birthday of Altenew , one of our favorite stamping companies!  You should have arrived here from the Altenew blog , and we're glad you're here to share the excitement! There are prizes and inspiration and it's going to be FUN! With you today, is Norine from The Velvet Lemon  creating for Butterfly Reflections Ink  and I have some projects to share today, that I made using some recently released Altenew products .   First up, are these two cards created with the Mega Succulent stamp set .   I stamped the image onto water color paper using the MISTI , then turned on the music and sat and colored.   I used Faber Castell watercolor pencils so I could more easily control where the color would sit and then painted with a water brush .  I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of vellum, heat embossed with clear embossing powder to ensure that the ink wouldn't smudge, then tore the vel
