Plane and Simple!

Hi friends! Kari with you today, and I am happy to share this fun card with a little bit of rainbow goodness, and punny sentiments!

For today's card project, I wanted to ink up one of my favorite sets from the Lawn Fawn release called Plane and Simple.  I had this vision in my head that one of the planes was flying in a rainbow path, because rainbows are happy and cheery!  So, that is what I started out creating first.



I die cut a piece of smooth white card stock with the largest of the Small Stitched Rectangle Stackables from Lawn Fawn.  I created out of some masking paper from Inkadinkado, and I took one of the Stitched Hillside Borders dies and had to separate pieces to create a wave pattern.  Then, I took some Distress Inks in Candied Apple, Dried Marigold, Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron, Salty Ocean, Blue Print Sketch, and Wilted Violet to create my rainbow wave :)

Then, I peeled back my masks to reveal a nice sharp line!  My favorite part is the reveal!  Then, I added some stitched cloud detail using the Stitched Cloud Backdrop - Landscape.  This is such a fun die!!!  I set aside my panel, and worked on stamping, coloring and die cutting my plane, and banner images.  I used my Copics to color these images in.   Nothing fancy, just "plane and simple" - see what I did there ;) HA!


My images were ready to adhered to my card front, so I added foam adhesive on the back of both images, and adhered it in the middle of my rainbow.  I then stamped the "Plane and Simple" sentiment using LF Jet Black Ink.  Before adhering the focal panel to my blue A2 sized card base, I wanted a bit more color and contrast, so I also used a piece of Perfectly Plaid: Rainbow pattern paper, and cut that down to size to give a nice frame to my main panel, and then adhered both pieces with foam adhesive to my card base.


I loved how this card turned out.  This could easily be a masculine or feminine card!  And, would be fun to make multiples and give as a set too!!

I used my  We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool  for the first time and loved it! I cut my own  Tim Holtz watercolor paper  to the size of tag I wanted (2 3/4 x 4 1/4) and cut the edges with my trimmer.  I stamped my sentiments that are by  Lawn Fawn Hello Baby  with VersaMark ink and used white embossing powder. For the girl tag I used a mix of Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Abandoned Coral  Distress Inks  and for the boy tag I used Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron  Distress Inks .  I sprayed both tags with some water and dabbed it off. Painting backwards....

Hello, hello!  Norine here from The Velvet Lemon blog .  It's been a week for introductions hasn't it, but let me just say how delighted I am to have been invited to join such a talented group of paper crafters, and to contribute here at Butterfly Reflections Ink!   Today I'm sharing with you, some cards I made by working backwards.  What do I mean, you wonder?  Well, it's a technique I sometimes enjoy doing, where you "smoosh" your water based ink pads on a craft mat, mist the colors with water and then drag your water color paper through it to create a pretty mess of color.     For today's cards, I wanted a blend of blues and greens (always a crowd pleaser) and yellows/pinks.  You will always be happier with the results when you keep the green/blues from overlapping with the yellow/pinks, because that just produces an unappealing mud color.   I used a variety of Tim Holtz Distress Inks for this project, but any water based inks w
