Hey there!
I can't believe we're already in July! Considering I spent most of June traveling, it was a little hard to get back into the swing of work and the daily grind. It was the end of my day off on July 4th before I finally felt like our house was back in a somewhat recognizable state of order.
Unfortunately, along with our hectic schedule for several weeks in a row, my crafty mojo was out the window, too! But I took a short hiatus from creating, and it was just the respite I needed. The creative juices started flowing again this week.
Do you ever over-complicate things? I do. All. The. Time. So, I've been spending a little bit of time thinking of some "template" type ideas that I can re-visit any time I need a quick and easy card to give.
Send in the stripes!
Folks, perhaps the easiest thing in the world is making a set of stripes, and then slapping a bold and cute sentiment on top for a focal point! This is a simple type of card, so this post will be short!
I started by taping a piece of watercolor cardstock to my work surface. I then took various colors of distress ink (Picked Raspberry, Twisted Citron, Salty Ocean, and Seedless Preserves), and just swiped them across my paper with a flat paintbrush in a striped rainbow pattern. I heat set the painted stripes with my heat gun and then carefully pulled off the tape.
I recently saw this Neat and Tangled stamp and totally fell in love. I thought it was the perfect sentiment to put on top of my colorful stripes. I stamped the sentiment in my favorite black ink and then clear heat embossed it.
I trimmed down my striped panel and adhered a slightly smaller piece of foam on the back. I then die cut a second panel using the Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle Stackables die before adhering it to my 4.25 x 5.5 card base.
And that's it! This was so fun to put together because it was so easy! Don't reinvent the wheel every time you sit down to create. Visit your favorite techniques over and over and new inspiration will strike!
Thanks for stopping by today!
