Hey folks!
It's been ages since I've been here on the Butterfly Reflections Ink Blog! I am so happy to be stopping by to share another card with you!
Show of hands of who thinks otters are the cutest thing ever! I've been hoarding the My Favorite Things Otterly Love You Stamp Set for awhile, but thought it was time to show it some love.
To start my card, I cut a a nice of white cardstock down to 5"x5". Then using my MISTI Stamping Tool, I stamped all of my images with My Favorite Things Black Licorice Hybrid Ink. I used the otters, rocks and fish from the Otterly Love You Stamp Set. The turtle and the seaweed are from My Favorite Things Mermazing Stamp Set.
I didn't do a lot of masking in terms of stamping all of the images, I needed masks for all of them anyway, because I wanted to do some ink blending on the bottom for the "lake bed" and the top to make this guys look like they are in water.
Using a Ranger Mini Ink Blending Tool, I ink blended Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Cracked Pistachio, Broken China, Faded Jeans and Wilted Violet. I made sure to keep the lightest (Cracked Pistachio) to the top, but worked my way down to the darkest. This ended up being a layers of Faded Jeans and Wilted Violet. Distress Inks are groovy this way because they are fairly transparent and blend beautifully together.
I pulled off all of my masks, but before I stamped the seaweed I colored in all of the rocks using my Copic's and the stippling technique. I wanted them to look like they had some texture to them and this was perfect. Since I was already in the Copic zone, I finished coloring in all of my images.
I only mask off a few rocks, this fish and an otter to stamp the seaweed. I wanted the scene to look like it was al over the bottom of the lake bed. I used My Favorite Things Pigment Inks in Dill Pickle, Limelight and Green Room. I made sure to keep the darker colors in the back and lighter to the front.
To finish everything off, I used the wave from the Otterly Love you Stamp Set and stamped it on the panel with Versamark Ink and heat embossed that with Nuvo Clear Embossing Powder. I also used a shimmer spray to splatter drops all over the front and finish up with some Glaze Pens to add a lil more oomph to the card.
That's it!
As always, I hope you enjoyed my card today. Thanks so much for stopping by!
Until next time!
