It's Jenny here and I'm joining you today for a dark, masculine shaker card. I've love love loved the It's Just a Phase background stamp by Hero Arts for so long and had this idea for a card floating around in my brain for ages. I had to finally make it or I'd go mad! (You know what I'm talking about right? It's not just me).
To create the card, I used some 100lb navy cardstock and trimmed it down to create an A2 cardbase and also a panel which was slightly smaller than A2 (approx 4 1/8" x 5.25"). I diecut the MFT Stamps Star Shaker window from the panel. I also diecut the frame from the same set from another piece of Navy cardstock.
I treated the die cut panel with a powder tool and then used my MISTI to stamp the background stamp onto the panel using Versamark Ink. I then heat embossed the image using Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder (a gorgeous warm silvery colour). I also went around the edges of the panel with the Versamark and heat embossed with the Liquid Platinum to create a cool distressed edge look. I also dipped the star frame in Versamark and heat embossed twice, and adhered the frame over the window with liquid adhesive.
For the shaker, I added some acetate behind the panel and then created a holder for the sequins on the back with two layers of foam tape (which I also added all over the back of the panel). I added a sprinkling of Galaxy sequins by Honey Bee Stamps and then backed the window with some grey-silver glitter paper. I then adhered the entire panel to the card base.
The sentiment was heat embossed in the same embossing powder and added with foam tape. I wanted to keep this all pretty similar in colour to keep the masculine look - also a great way to use a full sheet of one cardstock color ;)
That's it! I hope you liked it - this is a really versatile design you can do with any color card base and any color shaker contents, changing up up the shaker window too - (MFT also does a few other shapes that BRI carries).
As always, I LOVE to hear your comments, thanks for visiting!
