It's Jenny here with another festive card, courtesy of a fabulous stamp set by Flora & Fauna called Arctic Starry Night. I love this set, it's full of such cute critters, and stars (love stars) in a whimsical hand drawn style. Butterfly Reflections Ink carries a bunch of Flora & Fauna goodies in the shop I highly recommend checking out!
To create my card, I stamped all of the bears and the sign from the set in copic friendly black ink - try Memento Tuxedo Black. I then did some very simple coloring with my Copics in Cool and Warm grey, pink for the cheeks and light blue-green for the scarf. I cut out the bears with my Scan n Cut.
For my background, I used a gorgeous 6x6 patterned paper from the Summer Lights set by Pink Paislee. Who says summer paper can't be used for holiday cards :) I trimmed it down to the size of an A2 size card front and then adhered it to some studier white card stock. I then used the Knight Sky stencil by Echo Park to apply Nuvo Glimmer Paste in Tanzanite Lavender (a shimmer blue green purple) over the entire piece and set it aside to dry. When dry I adhered it to a white card base.
I die cut a frame from silver mirror cardstock using a My Favorite Things Stitched Rectangle Scallop Edge die-namics. I adhered it to the front with thin foam strips. I used this frame again to die cut a white piece of cardstock and using the inner portion of the frame I freehand cut some snowy 'hills'. Using the centre piece from the frame made sure that the snow banks would be the exact right width.
I adhered the back snowbank directly to the card base, and the one at the front was popped up on foam tape for dimension. I edged each snow bank with Sprinkled Sugar Stickles . If there is one Stickles you need in your collection it's this one. It leaves a very subtle strip of almost matte glitter. It's exactly like sugar. When dry, I adhered the bears and the sign using foam tape and liquid adhesive.
For the sentiment I die cut the Flora & Fauna Happy Holidays from the same silver card and adhered directly to the card base. I then coloured a piece of scrap card with the light blue copic I'd used on the bear's scarf and stamped the 'let it snow' sentiment from the set in Copic friendly ink, trimmed it out and popped it up on foam tape.
As a finishing touch, I added some Wink of Stella in Clear and Glossy Accents to the bear's scarf.
Not my usual card type - I don't typically do critters, however I did have a LOT of fun making it. Especially as I got to break out my Glimmer Paste again. I need ALL OF THEM!!
