Thanks for stopping by today! I've got a colorful card that is sure to make you smile.
I recently celebrated my birthday, and so I knew that I wanted to do a birthday themed card today. The sentiments in the Party Like A Pirate stamp set from My Favorite Things include a phrase about partying, so I figured it was a great time to use it! Plus, my sweet husband got this set for me for Christmas, so I was itching to use it.
I began by stamping the images from the set in a Copic marker safe black ink on to regular white cardstock. I then used my Copic Markers to color the images before using the matching die set to cut them out. For some additional interest, I added some additional details to some of the clothing and also the ship with a white gel pen. I set the images aside and then went to work on my scene for the card panel.
I placed my images on my 4.25 x 5.5 inch card panel to give me an idea on depth perception. I wanted to create the look of sky, ocean, and shoreline all in the same card, so I knew I needed to do a little bit of planning to figure that out. Once I had an idea of where my images were going to go, I masked off the bottom portion of the card to create the sky. I used the My Favorite Things Mini Cloud Edges Stencil, Tumbled Glass, and Broken China Distress Inks to create the sky. I then masked off the sky and a smaller portion of the bottom part of the card to create the ocean. I used Salty Ocean and Chipped Sapphire Distress Inks to create the Ocean, and then I masked off the ocean and created the shoreline by using Tea Dye and Vintage Photo Distress Inks. I used a combination of stencil brushes and a mini ink blending tool to create all three portions of the scene on the card panel.
After I was finished creating the scene on the panel, I adhered my die cut images to the panel, all in the appropriate places. For some added depth, I used a Warm Gray Copic marker to add a little drop shadow in the clouds, and I also used various blue and brown Copic markers for added depth on the boat and the figures standing on the shoreline.
After finishing my scene card panel, I finished up the card by gluing the panel on to a scored 4.25 x 5.5 inch base.
