Hello Crafters!Ali here (alilovescardmaking) with the perfect card for book-lovers - a card and bookmark set! To make this card, I used the adorable Our Story stamp set and dies from My Favorite things. The card has a matching removable bookmark on the top right corner, making it a card and gift in one!
I began the card by stamping out the girl on the chair, lamp, bookstack (x2) and dog, in a light ink such as Antique Linen distress ink on Kraft cardstock. I coloured them with my prismacolour pencils and die-cut them out with the corresponding dies.
.
To make the bookmark, I created a simple template (below). I used the widths shown for the bookmark (I had previously used a similar template from StampingMathilda). The lenght is up to you depending on how much you want showing at the 'back' of the bookmark (you can cut the back 'overhang' off altogether to simply form a triangle bookmark if you wish). Fold the top corners down at the halfway mark.f
Mark out the 'top triangle' dimensions with a pencil on another piece of card (or coloured paper as in my bookmark) and cut this piece (see kraft cardstock piece below). This will cover the join at the top.
As mentioned, you can trim to create a triangle or have some card at the back (I used a corner rounder on my back piece). After I constructed the bookmark, I adhered the dog and books to the front. I stamped "read.relax.repeat" on Kraft card in Versamark ink, white embossed, trimmed to a strip and used a small corner rounder on the bottom corners. I adhered this to the bookmark as per below.
For the main card, I sponged around the top corners and sides with vintage photo distress oxide ink. I adhered a strip of patterned paper for the 'floor'. I marked on the card lightly with pencil where the lamp would stand and masked this area, sponged with yellow Distress Oxide Ink to create a 'light' glow from the lamp. Finally, I adhered the girl, light, and sentiment strip (stamped in versamark ink & white embossed).
Totally in love with this stamp set and can't wait to send this to my friend who is an avid bookreader!!
Have a lovely day and see you next time!
Ali xx
