From one coffee crazy gal to another...

Hi guys!

It's Erica back on the BRI blog today with a few coffee themed projects. Grab a cup of coffee or your choice of brew and get comfortable.

I've got two cards with matching gift card holders in fact. I have mixed and matched a lot of fun different companies for these, including Altenew, Honey Bee Stamps, Pretty Pink Posh, Kuretake Gansai Tambi water colours and Ranger Ink/Tim Holtz Distress inks.

I wanted a cute card with a matching gift card holder and naturally, once I got on a roll, I couldn't stop at one colour scheme so I made two different sets... Eh, what can I say? It's a problem I have.

For my first card, I went simple. On a 4.25"x5.5" sized water colour card stock, I stamped 'we are the perfect blend' in Black Soot Distress Oxide and then the heart shape in Walnut Stain. This sentiment is from Altenew's Coffee Talk stamp set. I also sprinkled clear embossing powder on top of it and set it with my heat gun. Once that was cooled off I rubbed some Abandoned Coral and Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide inks on my work mat. After a spritz of water to active the inks, I rubbed my card base on it and then set it with my heat gun. It was a bit pale after just one application, so I did the same thing once more and it looked better.

While I waited for it to cool down and flatten down, I got working on my second card. Using another coffee themed Altenew stamp set, this one was Coffee Love, I stamped 'Coffee when your brain needs a hug' on a light grey card stock with VersaMark ink and heat embossed it with Altenew's Platinum Crisp embossing powder. I also stamped the coffee pot, in Dusk Altenew ink, and one of the cups, in Moon Rock, on more water colour card stock. I coloured these in with my 36-pack Gansai Tambi water colours and added some shimmer with the Starry Color pack.

I set those images aside to let them dry and once they were, I cut them out with their coordinating diecuts. I also trimmed down the card panel with the sentiment on a little bit, just enough to let the card base show through and added it to a black card base with 1mm thick foam sheet cut to size. The cup and the coffee pot were also added to the card with some foam tape and to finish off the card, I added some sparkly clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh with Glossy Accent. It was SO hard to step away from it and leaving it CAS but yay, I did it!

The gift card holders I made with the Coffee Card Gift Holder Honey Cuts from Honey Bee Stamps and some Core Color card stock, one is called Satin Rose and the other one Aquamarine. As well as white linen textured card stock and some other textured card stock. The actual coffee cup shape needed a little something so I decided to stamp up some of the flowers from Altenew's Frosted Garden on them. On the pink one, I used Altenew's Lagoon and Emerald dye ink and on the teal one I just used black ink.

On the sleeves I decided to stamp up little messages in Walnut Stain Distress Oxide ink, as it is the closest colour I have to coffee colour. The messages I chose are from the Coffee Talk set, and I had to stamp them a few times using my MISTI as the card stock is corrugated to mimic the actual sleeves you get on take-away coffee cups.

I did smudge the black ink on the teal cup a bit, and naturally got it on the white top. Ugh... oh well, I'm all about keeping it real with the crafting. Even the ugly bits. Anyway, I'm not gonna keep you too long as I'm actually all done. Yep. So, with a last couple of pictures, I will leave you in peace.

Baby Tags featuring the We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool!

Happy Monday! This is Kim Hamilton and I am so very excited to be sharing my first post with you for Butterfly Reflections Ink! This is making my first day back to work after a two-week break a happy one! I am sharing baby gift tags today, one of my friends is expecting and not sure what she is having so I made one of each! I used my We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool for the first time and loved it! I cut my own Tim Holtz watercolor paper to the size of tag I wanted (2 3/4 x 4 1/4) and cut the edges with my trimmer. I stamped my sentiments that are by Lawn Fawn Hello Baby with VersaMark ink and used white embossing powder. For the girl tag I used a mix of Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Abandoned Coral Distress Inks and for the boy tag I used Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron Distress Inks . Painting backwards....

Hello, hello! Norine here from The Velvet Lemon blog . It's been a week for introductions hasn't it, but let me just say how delighted I am to have been invited to join such a talented group of paper crafters, and to contribute here at Butterfly Reflections Ink! Today I'm sharing with you, some cards I made by working backwards. What do I mean, you wonder? Well, it's a technique I sometimes enjoy doing, where you "smoosh" your water based ink pads on a craft mat, mist the colors with water and then drag your water color paper through it to create a pretty mess of color. For today's cards, I wanted a blend of blues and greens (always a crowd pleaser) and yellows/pinks. You will always be happier with the results when you keep the green/blues from overlapping with the yellow/pinks, because that just produces an unappealing mud color.
