Hello everyone!
Thanks for stopping by the BRI blog today, it’s my turn today and I have two rather pawsome cards, if I may say so myself.
It’s no secret that I am a certified crazy dog lady. I would have a whole house full if I could, seriously! Colouring dog stamps is about as close as I’m gonna get to have more than my two little fur babies in the house though and I do tend to go to town with the coloring, putting the images aside and then use them later. For today’s cards I skipped the ‘putting them aside’ step and went ahead and made two cards right away. High five anyone?
The sets I have used for the dogs are called ‘You make my tail wag’(this one is on sale too!!) and the coordinating dienamics(this is an affiliate link of mine as BRI does not have these in the shop) and ‘Lucky dog’and the coordinating dienamics (These are also affiliate links of mine so if you use these I get a small commission from MFT Stamps directly as no extra cost to you) As you can see, I have coloured in a fair few of them! I used my Copic markers for all of the colouring.
On both cards I wanted to use the dogs that are hanging on to something with both the front and the back showing, I love these stamps from the sets, they are so fun.
The first card was the quickest of the two, but that’s probably because I had a quite clear picture in my head of what I wanted it to look like and it actually turned out (almost) exactly like I wanted it. That rarely happens to me if I’m honest.
The card base is Lawn Fawn Cilantro card stock, and I cut the sheet in half, scored and folded it. To create the window I ran it through my BigShot with the third smallest MFT Stitched Arch diecuts. Vanessa doesn't have that exact diecut in the shop but you could use the Hexagon Shaker Window & Frame instead or maybe just a Circle die. The fence is made using Picket Fence Border from Lawn Fawn. I cut one out of card stock and one ouf of foam sheet to make it thicker. This was added to the card bottom and the dog was placed in the middle of the arch.
Using another MFT Dienamic, this time the Stitched Speech Bubble, I cut out piece of white card stock and stamped the sentiment ‘You’re dog-gone awesome’ and a big paw print on it. This was also added to the card with foam tape to raise it up. I used scissors to trim it down and then the card was done!
The second card is a love-puppy card. That’s probably not a big surprise, with me being a soppy poppy and all, lol!
The card base is made with Lawn Fawn Raspberry card stock and I used the Outside In Stitched Heart Stackables to cut out three heart shaped holes on the front. All around these hearts I stamped both solid and outlined dog bone images as well as a big and a small paw print using Distress Inks in Black Soot, Iced Spruce and Picked Raspberry.
In the big heart hole I stamped ‘You make my tail wag’ and the little doggie was placed at the bottom of the heart.
In the top right heart hole I also placed a small heart with a red paw print stamped on it. The heart is the stitched heart that comes in the Tiny Gift Box diecut set and the paw print is stamped with Candied Apple Distress Oxide ink. The bottom heart hole is empty. I toyed with the idea of adding another dog to it but as it doesn’t have a ‘back’ I decided against it.
So, what do you think? Woof or Ruff? Wag or Nay? Ok, I may have gone totally mad now so I had better sign off before I say something truly embarrassing, lol!
Have a great week and happy crafting from Erica
