Hi Everyone! It's Jenny here and I'm so happy to be joining again to guest on the Butterfly Reflections Ink blog! Today I'm sharing three cards with you, which are pretty simple, but the possibilities are endless.
I'm using a combination of alpha dies (you can use any you like but my cards all use the Altenew Bold Alphabet and Concord & 9th Double-Cut Alphabet) paired with stencils and patterned paper.
The aim of my cards was to create my own custom sentiment, but I wanted it to be one word, which evoked an emotion, something that stood on its own as a powerful word. I also wanted to use some of the gorgeous patterned paper BRI carries, that is JUST TOO PRETTY TO CUT darn it :)
My first card uses the 6x6 My Mind's Eye In Bloom paper pad from which I selected a page with a gorgeous floral pattern on it. There are similar beautiful (gold!) florals in the Heart of Home pad. I die cut the word 'strong' using the Concord & 9th Double-cut dies from the front of the panel after trimming down to 4.25" x 5.5".
To ensure a straight line I recommend lining them up backwards on a strip of post-it tape. I also die-cut the alphas again from white cardstock. I then adhered the panel down to a white card base, then inlaid the white outlines of the diecuts and then the patterned paper inners. To finish I added some Pretty Pink Posh Clear Droplets in 6mm and 4mm.
For my second card I used a similar technique using paper from the Pink Paislee Spellcast paperpad and die cut the word 'possible' using the Altenew alphas.
Before adhering these letters down, I die cut them again with purple and black craft foam, and stacked them before inlaying them. These alpha dies are big, but it doesn't mean you can't choose longer words for a focal point on your card. I scattered Studio Katia Iridescent Crystals for a little bit of bling.
For my final card I created the word 'Breathe' die cut from Kraft cardstock using the C9 Double-Cut alphas but used only the outlines which I adhered to a thin strip of vellum.
My background was created with the Altenew Leaf Burst stencil over white cardstock, over which I then used BoBunny Glitter Paste in Seafoam and Rose Gold, blending them slightly together towards the middle. When dry, I wrapped the vellum strip around the panel and adhered it to a white card base.
I hope you liked these - there are so many powerful words out there that you can use this technique for, (I have a list of about 30 so 27 cards to go!) and it's a great way to use your patterned paper stash.
