Hello! Welcome to the Butterfly Reflections Ink blog on this Sunday Funday! It's Janette Kausen here and I am honored to be back guesting today. The project I have to share with you features the ever popular Concord & 9th Lovely Blossoms Turnabout and dies.
Concord & 9th has released several variations on their cleverly designed Turnabouts. The Oh, Hello, Dotty, Dahlia and now the Lovely Blossoms are among my favorites. They are a simple concept. One stamp, when rotated 90* for each impression, creates a background filled with goodness. Choose to stamp 1 - 4 times with the same or different colors. The combinations are endless!
The hardest part? Getting the stamp set lined up correctly. I've gotcha covered! The Turnabouts each come with a preprinted template. Place the template inside of a Misti Precision Stamp Tool and secure with magnets. Take your stamp from the packaging and lay it face down on the template, carefully matching the printed designs to those on the stamp. Close the lid of the Misti, picking up the stamp.
Cut an accurate square of white cardstock slightly larger than the longest side you'd like your finished panel to be, up to 5 3/4". Using a straight edge diagonally across cardstock square, lightly mark each corner. Apply repositionable tape to template and press cardstock in place, aligning all four marked corners with the template alignment guides. As tempting as it is to skip the marking, I find it quite helpful!
Next, stamp away! Begin by stamping the first color. Leaving the template securely in place, rotate the cardstock square 90* (1/4 turn). Stamp in a second color. Repeat for third and fourth or don't. It's really up to you how full you'd like the background to be. I stamped in Distress Oxide colors Spun Sugar, Hickory Smoke, Blueprint Sketch and Black Soot.
The final touches included ink blending with Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide on a hexagon cut with the Lovely Blossoms dies. The same die set includes a sentiment which I have cut in gold glitter paper, also by Concord & 9th. I cut a second sentiment set in black along with a black hex frame.
I trimmed the stamped panel down to 4" x 5 1/4" and adhered it with foam tape onto a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" folded card base. I then assembled the last of the elements trimming the black LOVELY away and offsetting you are.
It's not hard to see how the Lovely Blossoms Turnabout and dies have quickly ranked amongst my favorites! I hope you have enjoyed this post and are inspired to Turnabout, yourself! Vanessa has this and so much more over at Butterfly Reflections Ink. Pop on over to see what's new today!
Happy Crafting, we'll see you again soon!
xo, Janette
Gorgeous Janette, I have seen these turnabout stamp backgrounds before but haven't purchased one for my craft stash as yet. Thank you for sharing this with us crafters. :O) xx
