Nuvo Glimmer Paste with Distress Ink Blending

Happy 4th of July, everyone! It's Lindsay here on the Butterfly Reflections, Ink blog. I hope that everyone in the U.S. is having a nice holiday. I should have done a red, white, and blue themed card, but I didn't think ahead so you're getting a glittery and flowery card instead. I hope that's okay! :) We can pretend that the Tonic Studios Nuvo Glimmer Paste is like fireworks... right?! Anyway, let's get started on the card.


   I have a new obsession and it's involving Nuvo Glimmer Paste and any stencil that is on hand. For this particular card, I used Moonstone Glimmer Paste which is awesome to layer over ink blended backgrounds. For this, I used Salty Ocean and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks that I blended with mini ink blending tools onto Bristol Smooth Card stock.


Here you can see the ink blending a little bit better. After the ink blending was dry, I used the Hero Arts Abstract Wave Stencil and carefully applied the glimmer paste over top using a palette knife. I would advise taping the stencil to the card stock with purple removable tape or other easily removed tape to ensure it stays in place during the application of the glitter paste. 


After applying in a thin, even layer, take the time to clean off the stencil, the knife, and your work surface as the glimmer paste can dry on these fairly quickly. I would then give the glimmer paste some time to dry. For this card, I waited about an hour, but will sometimes wait overnight if the glimmer paste has been applied in thicker areas.


I used the WPlus9 Tropic Fever Stamp and Die Set for the images which I stamped with Versamark Ink onto Bristol Smooth Card Stock and embossed using Brutus Monroe Alabaster Embossing Powder. I heat set the images using this heat tool (which by the way I recently purchased and it's been a GAME CHANGER, let me tell you!) I then colored the images using Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and die cut them out with the coordinating dies.


I added my ink blended and glimmer pasted background to my card base and die cut a scalloped frame die (this particular one is from Pretty Pink Posh). I applied the frame to the card panel using Tombow Mono Multi Glue. I would recommend a liquid adhesive when trying to adhere things to a glimmer paste background as it's very rough and uneven, which doesn't lend itself well to a tape runner.


I arranged all my pieces, adhering with both foam tape and Tombow Mono Multi Glue to the card panel. As a finishing touch I applied Aqua Shimmer Glitter Gloss Pens to the flowers and leaves of the embossed images, which I just love!

I used my  We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool  for the first time and loved it! I cut my own  Tim Holtz watercolor paper  to the size of tag I wanted (2 3/4 x 4 1/4) and cut the edges with my trimmer.  I stamped my sentiments that are by  Lawn Fawn Hello Baby  with VersaMark ink and used white embossing powder. For the girl tag I used a mix of Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Abandoned Coral  Distress Inks  and for the boy tag I used Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron  Distress Inks .  I sprayed both tags with some water and dabbed it off. Painting backwards....

Hello, hello!  Norine here from The Velvet Lemon blog .  It's been a week for introductions hasn't it, but let me just say how delighted I am to have been invited to join such a talented group of paper crafters, and to contribute here at Butterfly Reflections Ink!   Today I'm sharing with you, some cards I made by working backwards.  What do I mean, you wonder?  Well, it's a technique I sometimes enjoy doing, where you "smoosh" your water based ink pads on a craft mat, mist the colors with water and then drag your water color paper through it to create a pretty mess of color.     For today's cards, I wanted a blend of blues and greens (always a crowd pleaser) and yellows/pinks.  You will always be happier with the results when you keep the green/blues from overlapping with the yellow/pinks, because that just produces an unappealing mud color.   I used a variety of Tim Holtz Distress Inks for this project, but any water based inks w
