Hi guys!
Erica popping in today with a guest designing post here on the BRI blog! How is everyone doing? Anyone feeding a particular craft obsession at the moment? I must admit my love for cover plates has not diminished in the slightest and making several cards with the same plate and different coloured card stock is still high up on my 'I love it'-list. Combine that with my love for blue and we have some diecut, blue cards to chit-chat about today.
The cover plate I have used for these is the Squares and Chevrons from Neat & Tangled, and the card stock is all from Lawn Fawn. They are finished off with one of my favourite stamp and diecut combos from Neat & Tangled, the Celebrate one. You can get the diecut on its own but there is a fun coordinating stamp set to finish off the sentiment for all sorts of occasions.
Right, the colours of card stock I have used here are Bluejay and Moonstone, with some white thrown in too. Both the card bases are made with Bluejay card stock too.
Lots of die cutting and puzzling later I had quite a few backgrounds. This process is something I really enjoy and find quite soothing, as it doesn't require too much focus, so I can binge watch my current show on Netflix at the same time but still achieve something other than pins and needles in my butt.
To finish off the cards, but not waiting to cover up too much of the pretty pattern, I heat embossed the Celebrate with Altenew Platinum embossing powder and then used the diecut to cut out the big part of the Celebrate, ie not the skinny one, but the shadow/frame bit. I also cut out another piece out of foam sheet and layered these up.
I also stamped 'It's your birthday' with two different coloured blue inks to create an ombré effect, on two slim strips of white card stock. The MISTI comes in so handy for this sort of stamping! I used Tide Blue and Starlight inks to create the effect.
All the sentiment bits were then added to the cards and a few enamel drops in coordinating colours finished them off.
Right, well, that's it from me this time but I hope I have inspired you to get die cutting and puzzling to create some colourful backgrounds!
If you want to see more of my work, you can follow me via my own blog, Instagram, Facebook and Flickr. Thanks for stopping by today. See you next time!
Lots of love from Erica

ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Nora! I'm a big fan of blue myself and these card stocks are just beautiful. That die is so fun to play with too, I can highly recommend it!
