Hey friends!
It's Jess and I'm back with another card for you! I decided to take a break from all things Halloween and Fall for a bit and create something adorable with an all year set from My Favorite Things. For this card, I used Rain or Shine.
To start my card off, I stamped this adorable little girl in black ink. Then, I colored her up using Copic markers. Once I finished all of her shading, I moved on to the background. This was total experimentation, so I wasn't sure how it would turn out. Hooray for stepping out of my comfort zone and trying something I'm not comfortable with yet!
I started by adding color around her feet to make it look like she was splashing in a puddle. Then, I decided I wanted to go the whole nine yards and give her an entire scene to play in. I did a little more coloring in the street area, then moved on to the sidewalk. I even put in (what I hope looks like) a little sewage drain.
I colored some grass using a few different green markers and then drew in a tree. When I moved on to the background, I used a few blue markers and colored a really streaky and imperfect background. Then, I got a paper towel wet with rubbing alcohol and dabbed it over my sky and tree. I love how you get the texture from the paper towel in there and it gives a mottled sort of look. Cool!
To finish things off, I used a stitched cloud edge die from My Favorite Things and some Broken China Distress Ink to add my clouds. I also added a few clear sequins to make it seem like it could be raining, and stamped my sentiment, 'I'm here for you even on the cloudiest of days.'
What a sweet encouragement card to send someone and brighten their day! Are you an avid colorist that makes your own scenes and backgrounds or do you stick to coloring the stamped images themselves? I'm excited to be working towards improving my coloring!
Hugs and love to you all,
