It's Jess and I'm back with a totally non-traditional Christmas card for you today. This card contains a ton of products from different companies - It was so fun mixing and matching to come up with my final design!
To get started, I used my Wreath Builder bundle from Gina K. I stamped a few of the different floral images in Hero Arts Shadow Inks (Soft Granite, Navy, and Dusty Blue). This template is SO easy to use and I was impressed with how quickly and simply my wreath came together. Once I stamped my images, I dusted a little color around the wreath in Faded Jeans Distress ink just so the paper wouldn't be solid white.
Next, I grabbed the Plaid Background stamp from Concord & 9th and stamped the large image in Soft Granite. I added the lines with Raven Detail Ink from Brutus Monroe. I blended on Faded Jeans Distress Ink and I cut a circle from this background, but I did this in a place that wouldn't show when I layered my cardstock with the wreath on top.
I also cut a city skyline image and shadow using my Cricut. I ink blended Wild Honey on my shadow piece and glued them together so it looked like the lights were on in the buildings. I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment, 'may your days be merry and bright,' from Merry Messages (Lawn Fawn) on my black piece. I thought this tied in nicely with the lights being on in the buildings.
I also stamped out the ladder, cute little bird, and star from Cheery Christmas (Lawn Fawn). I colored these with Copic markers and adhered them to the city skyline so it looked like the bird was putting a star on top of one of the buildings. Cute!
I popped my circle up on foam for some di
mension and added some stitched detail with a white gel pen. I thought this and the wreath looked like a really cool moon and sky background - I know it's not traditional, but I really liked how it came out.
To finish things off, I added some Navy sequins and filled them with Glossy Accents. What do you think of cards that stray off the path for traditional Christmas themes? Do you like to get creative with your themes or stick to the more traditional styles?
