Happy Thursday crafty friends, Ashley D. here! I’ve got something sweet planned for next Thursday,
*wink* *wink,* so I decided to create a fun St. Patrick’s Day card a little early. With two boys with bright red hair, it’s one
of our favorite holidays. And we can’t wait
for that corned beef and cabbage, yum! Now
that it’s March, I was so excited to use the adorable Lucky Friends set from
Heffy Doodle for the first time. It’s so
cute! I chose to use what I like to call
the “dancing Leprechaun,” but the coordinating dies do come with the cutest feature
for the seated Leprechaun, allowing you to tuck something into his hands; like that little included beer glass, maybe?! The pot also includes the same little feature. Precious!
To begin this card, I created a simple ink-blended background
with Distress Oxide Ink in Tumbled Glass onto Bristol Smooth Cardstock, cut out with
Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangles (3.25”x4.5”). To create the rainbow, I cut strips from the
same Bristol cardstock using the new Mama Elephant Offset Rainbow die. I brushed each with Distress Oxide Ink in the
proper rainbow colors – red (Barn Door), orange (Spiced Marmalade), yellow
(Squeezed Lemonade), green (Mowed Lawn), blue (Salty Ocean), indigo (Chipped Sapphire), and violet (Wilted Violet), and glued them to the background,
trimming off the excess. For the clouds
I used white cardstock and the Lawn Fawn Puffy Cloud Border dies, and the same
stitched rectangle die as the background.
I stamped several images from the Heffy Doodle Lucky Friends
set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored them in with Copic Markers (Leprechaun
– YG11, YG13, YG17, YG67, N2, N3, N4, E000, E00, E93, Y02, YR31, YR12, YR15,
YR27, E97; Clover – YG11, YG13, YG17; Coins – Y02, Y15; Pot – N1, N2, N3, N4,
N5. To create the Irish flag, I used
the flag from Lawn Fawn Beam Me Up set and drew dividing lines with a black
Copic 0.05 Multiliner pen, and colored it in YG13, YG17, W0, and YR15. I cut them all out with the coordinating dies
(Lucky Friends and Beam Me Up Lawn Cuts).
The Lucky Friends set comes with
several great sentiments and I stamped one in the same black ink onto white cardstock
and cut it out with Lawn Fawn Everyday Sentiment Banners, snipping off the
ends. To complete the sentiment, I added
Lucky in Paper Source Clover cardstock using the Heffy Doodle Lucky die. I added all the images to the rainbow panel with
foam adhesive. And then layered onto a green border in the same Clover cardstock
(3.5”x4.75”) and then onto a white cardbase die cut with the Mama ElephantCloud Nine background die. For a finishing
touch, I added white highlights with a Gelly Roll O8 pen, and a little sparkle
throughout with a Wink of Stella Clear glitter brush pen. Happy St. Patrick’s Day and may the luck o’
the Irish be with you all!
