Hi crafty peeps, it’s Heather here to share a fun card I created using the new ADORABLE Maverick stamps and dies by Hello Bluebird. I have to tell you, I’ve been dying to use these stamps/dies on an interactive card for a while now! As I sat down to create I couldn’t decide if I wanted to create a shaker card or a slider card... SO I DID BOTH!!!
After choosing my images, coloring them with Copics, and die cutting them out I decided to add a bit of Lawn Fawn Chunky Glitter to the clouds for a bit of sparkle. Then I die cut the Stitched Hillside Backdrop (Landscape) by Lawn Fawn out of some Bristol paper. Pulled out my Distress Oxides - Mowed Lawn, Twisted Citron, and Faded Jeans - and the MFT Cloud Stencil and set to work inking up the background scene. I then cut this Hillside Backdrop 12 times (!!!) from plain white cardstock. Yes, 12 times!! I somehow convinced myself that because of the type of card I wanted to create this would be more seamless than using foam tape or fun foam. I think it’s definitely more seamless - but it was a bit time consuming! In retrospect, I wish I'd also inked up the the inside edges of the border with the Stormy Sky so that there's not a POP of white around the cloudy card base - but ya live and learn!
Finally I went to work gluing the Hillside Backdrop frames together to assemble the double interactive card. I glued 6 frames together stacking them up, added a piece of acetate to next frame before gluing it down, then added a bunch of sequins before gluing that down onto the stack {shaker window is done}.
Next I added 5 more frames to the pile then cut a slider mechanism out of another piece of acetate using the Lawn Fawn Slide on Over die, before attaching a penny and a MFT Slider Elements to the critter in the airplane
and adding it to the front panel of the card and BOOM - we’ve got a Shaker and Slider card!! I finished it off with a few birdies and one of the fun sentiments in that awesome stamp set!
I hope you give this technique a try. It was a lot of fun to create and is a lot of fun to play with!
Happy Monday! This is Kim Hamilton and I am so very excited to be sharing my first post with you for Butterfly Reflections Ink! This is making my first day back to work after a two-week break a happy one! I am sharing baby gift tags today, one of my friends is expecting and not sure what she is having so I made one of each! I used my We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool for the first time and loved it! I cut my own Tim Holtz watercolor paper to the size of tag I wanted (2 3/4 x 4 1/4) and cut the edges with my trimmer. I stamped my sentiments that are by Lawn Fawn Hello Baby with VersaMark ink and used white embossing powder. For the girl tag I used a mix of Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Abandoned Coral Distress Inks and for the boy tag I used Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron Distress Inks . I sprayed both tags with some water and dabbed it off. I then stamped my images by My Favorite Things...
