Hi everyone, Julianne here bringing you some holiday cheer! I’m super excited to share these cards, I have been seeing a lot of slimline cards lately and thanks to all the inspiration from Davina I decided to create my first slimline card. Have you all started making Christmas cards for this year? I always find myself so behind making them, so I decided to start early this year. I just love this stamp set by Avery Elle, and thought it would make the cutest Christmas cards to share with you all.
To start both cards I stamped the Avery Elle Polar Bear Peek-a-Boo Stamp Set with some black VirsaFine Ink with my Misti. I wanted to use some of the cute accessories like the hat and scarfs so I started by stamping those first than masking them off before stamping the penguin and reindeer. I love when stamp sets come with additional stamps to customize. Once I had all my images stamped it was time to color, once finished I used my ScanNCut to cut all the images out, if you don’t have this machine you could easily use the coordinating dies to get the same results.
For my cardbases I cut some 100lb white cardstock to 8 1/2 x 7 and scored it at 3 1/2, I also cut two sheets of watercolor paper for my backgrounds to 8 1/2 x 3 1/2. For my backgrounds I used Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean and Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide Inks to blend a blue background, while my background was still wet I spattered white paint all over to give the illusion that it was snow.
I decided to use the Hello Bluebird Photo Stack Dies to make it look like the critters were peeking out of a picture. For dimension I die cut the photo frame twice and adhered them together with liquid adhesive and adhered the critters as well. After figuring out where I wanted everything placed I knew I wanted to fill in the empty spaces with snowflakes, so I used the Hello Bluebird Frosty Flakes Die, this die set has a total of 6 dies in a variety of sizes so it was perfect. I originally cut them out in just white cardstock but decided I wanted to add some sparkle so I cut them out from silver glitter cardstock as well.
To finish both cards off I added a Merry Christmas sentiment and adhered it with foam tape as well as variety of blue and silver sequins. Thank you all for stopping by to check out my Christmas cards, I hope you all enjoyed them. If you haven't had a chance to make a slimline card, I encourage you to. There is so much more space for you to create with, I can't wait to see what you all create.
