Hello friends! Davina here on the blog today and I’m sharing another soft colored card using the July Mood Board that the crazy talented Butterfly Reflections Ink team put out at the beginning of this month. The sherbet pastel colors really made me happy and I’ve been able to create some very different looks with the same few colors.
Today I’ve use a great stamp and die set by The Greeting Farm called Best Day Ever and it’s currently on clearance on the website (link provided) . So really, you can’t afford to pass it up! I love the Disney vibes it throws off so I wanted to create an amusement park scene since they really are the best days.
Now I’m a little “extra” , to say the least. So once the idea was in my head, and I finally had some time to create, I drew a basic version of its a small world. It’s maybe a small 3x3 image that is compromised of mostly rectangles and boxes, with a few circles and and triangles.
I colored it with Copics, in the four colors of the mood board, and also with a light skin tone that I considered neutral. Then I die cut some Bristol smooth cardstock using the largest Lawn Fawn Outside stitched rectangles and inkblended using Distress inks in squeezed lemonade and evergreen bough. I then lightly splatted with water and opaque white ink.
Then using my stamp platform, I stamped the images and colored with the same copics I used on the background drawing. I made a faux Minnie hat by stamping and fussy cutting the hair bow from a different Greeting Farm set called Couple Goals, and glueing
it inside the mouse hat. I love using the coordinating dies for stamp sets, but I do like to take the time to cut out portions of negative space. So on the balloons I used an xacto knife to cut out the white space between the strings since it was covering so much of the front real estate. I know that not much shows through, but it doesn’t make an impact.
Before attaching any images to my background I played with placement and then heat embossed a few of the stamp sets words in gold. I wanted a subtle look and didn’t want old black words. Then I glued down all of my images, for finishing off with a small prickling of gold sequins.
Thanks for dropping in and I hope that I’ve inspired you to make something today! Thank you,
Davina
