Hi there! It's Andrea with you today, and I'm so delighted to be guest-designing on the BRI blog!
Slimline cards are wildly popular on social media, and I couldn't resist making one with those cute piggies from Hello Bluebird's Beach Babes set. The card measures 8 1/2" x 3 1/2", which lets you use alot of images on one card without it being overcrowded. Another bonus is that with one 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of cardstock you can create both your cardbase and front panel. Score!
I stamped all of the images with Versafine Onyx Black ink and watercolored them with my Zigs. Once they were dry, I cut them out with my scissors (Coordinating dies are available, however).
To create my background, I first masked off the horizon line with postit tape. With MFT's Drifts & Hills Stencil in place, I inked up the water with Mermaid Lagoon distress ink. I used Neat & Tangled's Rice Paddies stencil with the same ink to create the waves.
After cleaning off the Drifts & Hills Stencil, I flipped it over to mask the ocean. I blended with Antique Linen and Tea Dye distress inks to create the sand. I removed the postit tape, masked off the sand and water, and blended Tumbled Glass over MFT's Cloud Stencil for the sky. I removed the masks from the sand and water, covered the sky, and flicked on water droplets. For a little realism on the ocean, I dabbed white paint where the sand and water meet. Love that easy detail!
I stamped a sentiment from Beach Babes with Versafine Onyx Black and adhered the panel to my card. I popped up those adorable piggies with foam tape and adhered the remaining images with liquid adhesive. Finally, I added highlights with a white gel pen.
Thanks for joining me! Have a wonderful week!
