Happy Sunday crafty friends, Ashley D.
here! So excited to be back on the Butterfly Reflections Ink Blog today and share with you this fun modern fall card with inspiration taken from the new October
BRI Mood Board and Sketch challenge. I’m just loving all these somewhat non-traditional fall colors!
I was totally drawn to those super cool pink
pumpkins, and the lovely dark greens and aqua!
For this card, I began by blending Distress Oxide Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick inks onto two pieces of Bristol Smooth Cardstock. I die cut one with the new Lawn Fawn Stitched Pumpkin Frame die, and the other with the Lawn Fawn Outside In Stitched Pumpkin
die.
I then splattered both pumpkins with
a bit of Light Gold watercolor paint from the Gansai Tambi Starry Colors palette. For the background, I adhered a piece of Lawn
Fawn Let’s Polka In the Meadow - Dew Drop Line Dance paper to a white card base,
framed with a white scallop rectangle using the Lawn Fawn Stitched Scallop Rectangle Frames, popped up with thin strips of foam adhesive tape. To give the pumpkin a little dimension I used
a little trick I learned from the mega talented Davina Cantrell (@popsiclesticks),
and cut another stitched pumpkin frame from white craft foam and then sandwiched
it between the pink frame and solid pumpkin, gluing it in place with a
light coating from a Lawn Fawn Glue Tube.
For a little more color inspiration from the Mood Board, I cut leaves,
vines, and a stem from Paper Source Shimmer Gold, Peacock, and Pool cardstocks,
sponging the tips and edges of the leaves with coordinating ink. I chose the Mama Elephant script ‘hello friend’
sentiment die, to act as a continuation of the vines, and layered it onto two
banners cut from the Lawn Fawn Everyday Sentiment Banners die.
For a little extra sparkle, I finished the
card with the addition of Pretty Pink Posh Pearl White jewels and a few dots of
Nuvo Crystal Drops Gloss White. It's the great pink pumpkin! Happy fall!
