Happy Monday crafty people! The card I'm sharing today is a fun spin on the classic Christmas song "I'll be Home for Christmas!" I used loads of fun products you can find at the Butterfly Reflections Ink. Shop to create this slimline scene.
As always, I started by stamping my images out in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I used stamps from a bunch of Lawn Fawn sets including :
- Oh What Fun
- Snow Cool
- Oh Gnome
- Beary Happy Holiday
- Fairy Friends
- Frosty Fairy Friends
- Gnome Sweet Gnome
- Christmas Dreams
- Claire's ABCs
After my images were cut out and colored I started creating my background. First, I measured four pieces of white cardstock to be roughly 8 1/2 X 4 inches. Using my Lawn Cut Stitched Hillside Borders, I cut out hills on three of the pieces of cardstock at varying heights to leave room for each layer. Next, I made the snow tops for each hill using the scraps and my Stitched Hillside Borders again. After I re-created my hillsides, I used Lawn Cut Puffy Cloud Borders to cut the bottoms off making my snowy hilltops. Using my Blending Brushes, I inked the hillsides with Distress Oxide Pine Needles before attaching the snow. Then I used Distress Oxide Tumbled Glass and a stencil made from Lawn Cut Puffy Cloud Borders to ink my sky on the last full piece of cardstock.
To begin assembling my pieces, I adhered the tallest hill under the sky using a tape runner. Before adding the next hill, I glued the colored images on the top layer using a Lawn Fawn Glue Tube. For the second hill, I built up two layers of double-sided foam tape and attached them to the back. I glued the colored images to the second layer before adding the next hillside. Only using one layer of double-sided foam tape I attached my last hill to the card face along with the last of my colored images.
For some last touches, I stamped out the sentiment using Distress Ink Fossilized Amber and snowflakes in the sky using Distress Ink Pumice Stone. I went over them using my glitter pen to make them stand out and sparkle. I wanted it to appear as if it were actively snowing so I used a white gel pen to add little dots over the images and background. Lastly, I matted the card face to black cardstock and adhered the whole thing to my card blank.
I hope you all enjoyed this scene as much as I did making it! Don't forget you have time to apply to be apart of the next Butterfly Reflections Ink. Design Team! The deadline is on Dec. 22 so don't wait! In other news, there's a fun new BRI mood board for December, and if you play along you could win a $20 gift card to the Butterfly Reflections Ink Shop!
