Hello crafty friends! I'm so excited to share this card with you today. I've had the idea floating around in my head for a while, and it couldn't have turned out more perfect. This scene was inspired by The Nutcracker and Tchaikovsky's Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. I always adored every version of this story I came upon, and I continuously fall in love with the music every time I hear it. For my interpretation, I was heavily influenced by the most recent retelling I've seen: The Nutcracker And The Four Realms. I adored the color scheme used for Sugar Plum's dress so I incorporated them in my land of sweets.
As always, I started by stamping my images on white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Except for the snowy trees in the background which I stamped using Distress Oxide ink: Dusty Concord, Wilted Violet, Tattered Rose, Picked Raspberry, and Seedless Preserves. I used images from Lawn Fawn sets Booyah, Christmas Dreams, Ready Set Snow, Fairy Friends, Frosty Fairy Friends, Baked with Love, and Year Five. Next, I cut out my images and colored them.
For the background, I used Lawn Cut Stitched Hillside Borders to create the hillside. Since I was making a slimline card, the die-cut didn't cut all the way across, so I lined up the die with the previous cut and did another pass through the machine.
I inked the sky on another piece of white cardstock using Distress Oxide Tumbled Glass. I attached the solid stamped trees to my background. Then on my separate hillside, I glued on the rest of the images. I added double-sided foam tape to the back of my hillside and overhanging images. After peeling the paper off, I lined up the hillside with the other cardstock and pieced them together. Lastly, I matted the scene to some black cardstock and adhered it to the card blank.
Some other materials I used making this include:
