Hello crafty friends, Davina here with a super fun double slider card using the February Mood Board, and Waffle Flower Crafts stamps and matching dies. I really love and enjoy using the #brimoodboards that Butterfly Reflections Ink offers each month, and I like that it pushes me to sometimes use colors I normally shy away from. Bold reds are a color I shy away from even at Christmas, but with this beautiful Valentine filled combo of Metallic Silver, Carnation Pink, French Rose, and Poppy Red, I won’t be able to resist.
I wanted to use some stamps that I’ve had a few months and haven’t had time to use. A couple of months ago I could not longer keep myself from purchasing all of the adorable mice stamps from Waffle Flower Crafts. So I figured, it’s still winter enough to use these ice skating cuties from the set Cold Hands and the coordinating dies.
I started my project by using the incredible Lawn Fawn Double Slider Surprise Dies to cut out all the panels and pieces I would be using. I cut an extra slider and face panel to make snow drifts from. I ran the three main image panels through the big shot with the Stitched Windy Bachground Die then gently inked the sky with Spun Sugar Distress Oxide Ink. I cut a hillside from the extra panels I cut and barely inked them with Tumbled Glass, then I splattered them all with Perfect Pearls for a glittery effect. Next, I assembled the slider following the LF directions on you tube.
I stamped all of the images using my stamp platform, then Copic colored everything using this months Color Board colors. After die cutting the images, I highlighted them by adding small white dots. I used Waffle Flower Cutaway Alphabet Dies to cut XOXO from glittery silver paper and adhered it to the center of my panel. I surrounded them with colored images and sparkly sequins. Next, I adhered my images on the side panels and added a colorful pull tab. I know you should decorate the panels first, but last time I did that, too much of my image was behind the front part, so this time I decided to do it backwards. Once my images were glued down I dusted both side of the sliders with my powder tool and pulled it open and shut a few times. Then I used foam tape to mount the mechanism onto a piece of striped Reverse Confetti Sweet as Sugar patterned paper that I cut with a stitched A2 rectangle die. Finally, I mounted it all onto a heavy card base using Scor Tape.
I really love the way this turned out and how vibrant these colors look together. I hope you use this months color inspiration to create something lovely. I will be hosting a Color Challenge on my personal Popsiclesticks Blog all month long, so please make sure you link your projects using the Inlinkz button, for your chance to win $20 to the Butterfly Reflections Ink online store.
Thank you for dropping by,
Davina
