Hello crafty friends! Davina here on the blog, sharing a #BRImoodboard inspired card. I used the recently released Mama Elephant Display A Card Creative Cuts die set to make this 3-D style card. I love that I can get a shadow box style card and keep the A2 size.
I also used the Mama Elephant Piñata Party stamp set with coordinating dies. I purchased this die set wanting to make larger shadow boxes and I like that it came with some trees, clouds, and a hillside. You could also add any other die cut element that you have in your stash, considering the size of the window is very generous.
I cut two panels from a toupe cardstock for the card base, and I cut the tree trunks from the salvaged edges. Then I cut the hill side and tree tops from some remnant green cardstock I had on my desk. Although I am using this months gorgeous color board, I never hesitate to add green for grasses and neutrals for skin tones. I inked the edges of the green cardstock with Distress Oxide Inks, using Mowed Lawn and Lucky Clover. I splashed some green ink on top for a little pizazz.
Next I stamped my images using Lawn Fawn Jet Black ink onto bright white cardstock. I colored everything with copic markers and die cut first, before adding my white dot highlights. I also used an older scripty Birthday sentiment from Mama Elephant called Scripty Bday, it’s beautiful and timeless and I use it all the time. I think there’s one left in the shop so go grab it!
I attached one side of the “accordion” and adhered my hills, then secured the other side. I know some people say to add all the “stuff” before closing it up, but I like to see exactly where things will be, so I closed it up once the hills were in place. Then I built my trees by staggering the height for dimension. Once they were in place I added the rest of my images and my sentiment on top.
For the background I used Squeezed Lemonade and the Lawn Fawn Cloud Stencil to ink up my sky before splattering with some bold yellow splashes. I secured it to the back of my card with scor tape. I consider adding it to a card base, but decided to leave off the extra bulk for easier mailing. I will stamp my sentiment onto some light weight smooth cardstock and write my greeting onto it before adhering it to the back. I love how simply it stands up and unlike regular cards, won’t fall down easily.
I hope you like this, and take some time to use the current mood board. I will have an InLinkz button on my personal blog for the April BRI Moodboard. Link your card for a chance to win a $20 gift card to the Butterfly Reflections Ink shop, and don’t forget to use the hashtag #brimoodboard.
