Hello Crafty Friends, Davina here on the blog, with some May Mood Board fun to share. As Spring temperatures warm up into Summer heat, the colors of the monthly mood boards are starting to heat up too! The colors this month are trendy and boho glam.
I just adore this combination of Peachy Rose, Mango, Turquoise, and Indigo Blue. I had so many ideas during the brainstorming for this color challenge. I thought I’d take it simple and show how just changing the traditional colors of a scene can really shake it up! I used a recently released stamp set that I illustrated for Trinity Stamps, called Let the Good Times Roll and the coordinating dies, to create this card.
Instead of using traditional bright primary rainbow colors, I used colors inspired by the May Mood Board, and it resulted in a “grown up” more mature version of a card I would feel confident to give to any young adult.
I started but cutting 3 stitched layers of white Bristol smooth cardstock using the second from the largest stitched layer die. I cut a 4th from green cardstock. Using the Grassy Knoll dies from Hello Bluebird I cut two layers of grass from the green cardstock, and two cloud layers of various height from 2 of the 3 white panels. Using the salvaged pieces of white cardstock, I cut a small rainbow and the backing with the Trinity Stamps Rainbow Dies.
With Distress Oxide Inks, I blended the sky with Faded Jeans, the clouds with tattered Rose and Dried Marigold, and even the edges of the grass with Peacock Feathers. I gave everything a little splatter with water and Perfect Pearls. Then I used copic markers to color the rainbow in non traditional colors that fit the color Board.
I stamped all of my images from Let the Good Times Roll and copic colored them using the same color choices from the rainbow. After die cutting, I added some white highlights and glittery Wink of Stella to the horn and rainbow. I heat embossed the sentiment upon the shortest layer of grass, and die cut nice bright white letters from white cardstock using the Hello Bluebird Charlie Alphabet Dies. Then I adhered the rest of my images before created a marigold layer, then mounting onto a large stitched turquoise panel. I finished it off with a sprinkling of Trinity Stamps no hole Melted Icicles Sequins.
I really had fun putting this together and using the new color board. Head on over to my Personal Blog all month long, to enter your projects using the May #brimoodboard, for your chance to win a $20 gift certificate to the shop!
