It’s Erica here to guest for Vanessa and the BRI blog today! It’s always a pleasure to pop in with an appearance here after being on the DT years ago. One of the easiest and most chilled out DT’s ever, so if you are wanting to dip your toes in and try out being on a design team, you should definitely apply the next time there is a DT call.
On July 1st, the Daily Marker Coloring Challenge is starting again. I’m so excited about it, not that I really need an excuse to sit down and colour but it’s always fun to see my Insta feed flooded with coloring projects. During one of the last ones, I coloured in the Snow Buddies from MFT Stamps. That set is beyond adorable. Apparently Avery, Vanessa’s daughter, loved the snowman I did so I thought that would be perfect to use for today’s card. This one is for you, Avery!
I coloured in one of the little girls as well as the dogs (only one showing here) as well. All done with the Copics in the photo below, plus a few more. Thankfully there are coordinating diecuts for this set as I am not a fan of fussy cutting.

Apparently Avery, Vanessa’s daughter, loved the snowman I did so I thought that would be perfect to use for today’s card. This one is for you, Avery!
For the background I wanted to use a new to me background stamp, also from MFT Stamps, called Simple Snowflakes but I also wanted to add some colour. In typical over-the-top Erica fashion, I ink blended a rainbow cloud background using Distress Oxide inks, Life Changing Blender Brushes and the Mini Cloud Stencil.
From top to bottom I used Mustard Seed, Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers, Broken China, Salty Ocean, Wilted Violet and the last two clouds are done with Picked Raspberry. The lowest one is done with “leftover” ink on the brush only for a softer look.
After using an anti-static tool all over this, I stamped up the Simple Snowflakes stamp on top with the help of my MISTI. I’ve used the WOW! Embossing pad and then I sprinkled white embossing powder all over it. With a heat tool I set the embossing powder and set this aside while working on some other bits and pieces.
I ended up using the Puffy Cloud die from Lawn Fawn to make a snow drift and the Happy Holidays Line Border die to add a sentiment. I did find the word die to be a bit fiddly to work with, even with a metal shim it didn’t cut the card stock very well. I spent a huge amount of time trimming off the little ‘shavings’ that were hanging from the three pieces I cut out. In fairness, it could have been the card stock, I guess, but I found that very annoying. If I had not done the trimming, it would have looked very messy and when you are buys making holiday cards, that’s not what you need.
All the bits and pieces were then adhered to the card with my glue tube and I popped up the little cheeky dog with some foam tape to create some dimension. With that, the card was done!

I’ve linked as many of the products as possible to the Butterfly Reflections Ink shop. The only things not available is the exact type of embossing powder. I used Opaque Bright White from WOW! But there are other white embossing powders to choose from.
