Hello everyone! The summer heat has been raging on, but I can't help from daydreaming of the Autumn days to come. The spirit of Fall is so inspiring to me, and it easily creeps its way into my creations all year round. I combined my inspiration from both seasons to cook up this creepy underwater scene!
I started by stamping my images using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, with an exception to the skulls I drew and the pirate ship that I customized to be wrecked. I colored the images using an assortment of Spectrum Noir, Chameleon Pens, Prismacolor, and Copic Sketch alcohol markers.

Next, I cut out my images and began creating the background. I used the slimline die from Trinity Stamps Wonky Stitched Wilderness and ran it through my machine twice with some white 80lb cardstock. With the second slimline piece, I cut out two hillsides for the ocean floor, using my Stitched Hillside Borders from Lawn Fawn. Time to start inking! To create the ominous dark blue water, I blended Distress Ink colors Black Soot, Faded Jeans, and Distress Oxide color Mermaid Lagoon with my blending tool. For the black sand, I used Distress Ink colors Black Soot and Pumice Stone. After I inked the scene, I flicked on a bit of water and white paint to add a little something extra.
To assemble the scene, I started by using a tape runner to adhere the middle ground hillside to the water inked background. For the next hillside, I adhered the seafloor images leaving any overhang untouched by glue. I wanted the scene to have depth, so I added foam tape to the backside of the hill and overhanging images before adding them to the final product. I added the rest of the images to the scene using my trusty Lawn Fawn Glue Tube.
I then mounted the seascape to a black matte before adhering it to a 4x9" card blank. For some finishing touches, I added some white gel pen highlights and stamped my What's Kraken sentiment in Distress Ink Barn Door. You can find a lot of the products I used to make this slimline card at The Butterfly Reflections Ink shop! You can also find more of my art and cards on Instagram @CaveWomanCreations. Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed this scene today and have a wonderful week!
