BOOYAH!

Hello, everyone! It's Allison here, and I'm excited to be back with you and sharing another card. Today I am using a new-to-me stamp set – Mama Elephant’s Little Boo Agenda. I have not made very many Halloween cards in the past, but they’re so irresistibly cute that I’m finally giving in. I used a fun mix of products from other companies for this card, as well.

First I cut a sheet of grey cardstock in half. I scored one half into a top-folding A2 sized card base. I cut the other half into 2 equal pieces. On each of these pieces, I centered up the 4th largest die from the Waffle Flower A2 Layers set and cut out the center to create a frame. Did I line up the die perfectly? Nope – no I did not. But that’s okay – nobody will ever notice. Except for anyone who is reading this blog post. I then cut a piece of acetate to be slightly smaller than the frames. Using Scor-Tape, I adhered the acetate in between the two frames.

I stamped the ghosts with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on Neenah Solar White 80# cardstock and then did a little bit of coloring with my Copic Sketch markers. I’ll admit that, after the last card I made with the kitties, I was happy to not have a lot of coloring to do! I don’t have the matching dies, so I fussy cut the ghosts with scissors. Sometimes I buy stamps and think to myself, “Self, you don’t need to spend your money on the matching dies. Those look really easy to cut out with scissors. Here, spend that money on something else you don’t need.” And then, without fail, as I’m sitting there with my scissors trying to cut out these little guys, I regret not having bought the dies. JBTD – Just Buy The Dies! By the way, if this acronym catches on, you heard it hear first.

On the front of the card base, I lightly stenciled in some clouds using the MFT Cloud stencil and Black Soot Distress Oxide. I diecut a cloud using the Mama Elephant Cloud Nine set and then distressed the edges with the same ink. I also distressed the outside edges of the frame.

I used the MFT Rainbow Bright die to cut pieces of orange, green, and purple cardstock. I then adhered these pieces to a Stick It Adhesive Sheet and cut out the rainbow as one whole element. I stamped the entire rainbow with my VersaMark Ink Pad and then embossed it with Wow Clear Sparkle Embossing Powder. I love this embossing powder - it always gives a unique finish. I removed the backing of the Stick It sheet and adhered the rainbow to the front of my frame.

Next, I ran upstairs to have a conversation with my child about staying in his seat for school. Because...2020. If I had a nickel for every time I have to ask him to put his camera back on for zoom meetings, I could buy those matching dies! But I digress...

I finished up the card elements by white heat-embossing the “booyah” sentiment on black cardstock and black heat-embossing Pink & Main’s “Happy Haunting” sentiment on the cloud shape.

Finally, I got to the fun part of making a shaker card. You know – the part where you worry that if you mess it up, you have to start the entire card over? And your fingers all of a sudden become magnets for every little piece of foam tape? Of course, this has never happened to me – I’m speaking for a friend. I cut some
foam tape to ¼” wide and pieced it all the way around the back of the frame. I put some random sequins from my stash inside the well and prayed to the shaker card gods as I slowly lowered the front of the card base down onto the foam. Ta-da! In all honesty, the shaker part of this card was pretty easy. But is it just me, or do you also add either too many or too few sequins? I am waiting for that Goldilocks moment where I end up with just the right amount.

I adhered the cloud and ghosts to the front of the card and decided to add a few little tidbits on the cloud, as well. Because who doesn’t like tidbits? The spider comes from the Little Mummy Agenda set. And yes, I fussy cut that spider and candy. It only took extreme concentration and a couple of bandaids. I finished the card off with some Nuvo Aqua Shimmer on the hats and candy and Black Glaze pen on the ghosts’ eyes. And with that, these ghosts are ready for their Halloween party! Notice the one guy sliding down the rainbow? He’s living his best life!

Thank you so much for joining me again on the blog. Wishing you all a crafty day!

Baby Tags featuring the We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool!

Happy Monday! This is Kim Hamilton and I am so very excited to be sharing my first post with you for Butterfly Reflections Ink! This is making my first day back to work after a two-week break a happy one! I am sharing baby gift tags today, one of my friends is expecting and not sure what she is having so I made one of each! I used my  We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool  for the first time and loved it! I cut my own  Tim Holtz watercolor paper  to the size of tag I wanted (2 3/4 x 4 1/4) and cut the edges with my trimmer.  I stamped my sentiments that are by  Lawn Fawn Hello Baby  with VersaMark ink and used white embossing powder. For the girl tag I used a mix of Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Abandoned Coral  Distress Inks  and for the boy tag I used Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron  Distress Inks .  I sprayed both tags with some water and dabbed it off. I then stamped my images by My Favorite Things...

Painting backwards....

Hello, hello!  Norine here from The Velvet Lemon blog .  It's been a week for introductions hasn't it, but let me just say how delighted I am to have been invited to join such a talented group of paper crafters, and to contribute here at Butterfly Reflections Ink!   Today I'm sharing with you, some cards I made by working backwards.  What do I mean, you wonder?  Well, it's a technique I sometimes enjoy doing, where you "smoosh" your water based ink pads on a craft mat, mist the colors with water and then drag your water color paper through it to create a pretty mess of color.     For today's cards, I wanted a blend of blues and greens (always a crowd pleaser) and yellows/pinks.  You will always be happier with the results when you keep the green/blues from overlapping with the yellow/pinks, because that just produces an unappealing mud color.   I used a variety of Tim Holtz Distress Inks for this project, but any wate...

Hey, hey BRI friends!  We're hopping today to celebrate the 4th Birthday of Altenew , one of our favorite stamping companies!  You should have arrived here from the Altenew blog , and we're glad you're here to share the excitement! There are prizes and inspiration and it's going to be FUN! With you today, is Norine from The Velvet Lemon  creating for Butterfly Reflections Ink  and I have some projects to share today, that I made using some recently released Altenew products .   First up, are these two cards created with the Mega Succulent stamp set .   I stamped the image onto water color paper using the MISTI , then turned on the music and sat and colored.   I used Faber Castell watercolor pencils so I could more easily control where the color would sit and then painted with a water brush .  I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of vellum, heat embossed with clear embossing powder to ensure that the ink wouldn't smudge...
