Happy Friday, Everyone! Allison here, and I'm happy to be back on the blog today sharing a pair of slimline holiday cards. I used a bunch of new MFT products, all of which can be found in the Butterfly Reflections, Ink. online shop.
I have been wanting to use this "Merry and Bright" stamp as a background, and it turns out that it works perfectly for a slimline card. So, I began my cards as I do with so many of my other slimline cards, and that is with the Mama Elephant Slim Card Basics die set. I cut a panel out of both pink and green paper. I figured while I was stamping one panel, why not make two? After playing around with the spacing a little bit, I stamped the pink paper with pink ink and the green paper with green ink. The pink ink ended up being more of a tone on tone look. The green ink was a bit more bold. Honestly, I was going for something in between, but you can't win 'em all! While I had my die set out, I went ahead and cut a white scalloped border for each card and made card bases out of complementary colors. The card bases measure 3.5"x8.5."Since I was making two cards, I selected two different sentiments from the Merry and Bright stamp set and stamped those in black ink on white paper. I also stamped the penguins from the "Warm Hugs and Frosty Kisses" stamp set and colored those with Copic markers. For the second card, I used the houses and trees from the "Tiny Houses" die set. I also used some even tinier trees from the "Mountain High" die set to fill in space. To finish off the cards, I added some jewels in coordinating colors. And there you have it - two different cards with one overall design. I really need to do this more often, especially since I really need to start cranking out those holiday cards! Thank you so much for joining me today, and I'll see you again soon.Wishing you a crafty day,
Allison
