Hello, everyone - Happy Friday! Today, I have a "sweet" card to share using the same Trinity Stamps die that I used for my last card. When I shared my peaceful mountain village card on Monday, Vanessa said that the kraft card stock made her think of gingerbread houses. A light bulb went off in my head, and today's card is the result!
This time, I used the
Slimline Rooftops die as intended - for a horizontal slimline card. Just like an actual gingerbread house, the construction of this card was pretty basic. It was the "piping" that was challenging. I'm not sure if I prefer piping icing onto real gingerbread or trying to draw tiny details on these houses, but both are fun and have endless possibilities. I could have taken this card in so many directions, like using color, gems, or stamps to add candy details. I even thought about adding some critters to make it look like they were building and decorating the houses. Let's be honest, my decorations do look like critters may have made them. But in the end, I chose to keep it classic looking. Hopefully, it still gives the illusion of gingerbread houses. But leave me a comment and let me know if you think I need to add some gumdrops or something!
As usual, the backbone of my slimline card was made with Mama Elephant's Slim Card Basics
die set. Yes, I use this on almost all of my slimlines. Maybe it's time to branch out? I don't know - it really has just the perfect essentials for any slimline card. I used the rooftop die to cut the kraft card stock, and then I got to work decorating my houses. I initially used a white color pencil, then I switched to a white gel pen. Ultimately, I ended up using a white paint pen. There are a couple snowflake images that I used on one of the houses that I didn't trust myself to freehand because they were so small. I stamped them with white pigment ink and then traced over the bigger one with my paint pen. These tiny snowflake images also come from the same set I used on the last card - Lawn Fawn's
Winter Skies. When I was done decorating the houses, I cut them into individual houses so that I could place them on my panel and add dimension with foam strips. I splattered the main card panel with white acrylic paint before adding the houses.
To finish up the card, I used the stamped sentiment from MFT's
Merry & Bright set on dark brown card stock. For the die-cut "Sweet," I used MFT's
Sweet as Pie die set and just cut off the end of the Sweetie die. And that's my card for today. I hope you enjoy it!
Wishing you a crafty day -
Love it as is! Awesome card!
