Hello, friends!
Kelly Martin here, and thanks for stopping by the blog today and spending a little bit of your day with me!
I recently sat down and had a nice wintery card-making session and I wanted to share one of my projects with you today, so let's get started!
To begin, I trimmed down a 4.25 by 5.5 inch piece of white cardstock. Using a blending brush and my Distress Oxide inks in Speckled Egg, Faded Jeans, and Chipped Sapphire, I created the ink blended background. I simply started with the lightest color first (Speckled Egg), and blended in a circular motion in the middle of the card. Then I used my second darkest color (Faded Jeans), and blended in a circular motion in an outward direction from the middle, and then repeated that same process with the darkest color (Chipped Sapphire). I then added some splatters using the same oxide inks and some white acryllic paint.
Using blending brushes and Distress Oxide inks is a great way to give your background that halo-glowing effect!
After my background was complete, I die cut several snowflakes from the Layering Snowflakes Die set (from Honey Bee Stamps) and glued them together. Then I adhered them down to my background in different places. To add a little bit of extra sparkle, I added some Gem Stickers to the middle of the snowflakes.
When the entire background was complete, I die cut the sentiment. I used the Joy word die (from Honey Bee Stamps) and cut out a piece of Dark Navy Cardstock and a piece of Blue Glitter cardstock. I glued those two word dies together with the dark navy piece acting as a matte, and then I adhered that down to my background.
To finish off the card, I stamped a sentiment phrase from the Joy stamp set that coordinates with the die and trimmed that element down so it would be a small strip to fit right on top of the word die.
Thanks again for stopping by today and have a Happy New Year!
