Enjoy Your Summer with Leontine

Hello! Today I'm on the Butterfly Reflections Ink blog again. I made a summer card with some cute stamps from Mama Elephant and I framed them with the Slim Film City dies. I mainly did copic coloring to fill the backgrounds, but I also used some colored cardstock and distress oxide inks to complete the colorful look. I was inspired by the thought of being able to go on holiday again. I’m sure most of us know that feeling. Until then this is my little getaway moment.

I started using the Slim Film City dies on some Black Licorice cardstock and Mermaid cardstock. I made a white card base of 8” x 3 ¼” and cut a panel of smooth cardstock to fit the card base. Also I cut a panel of copic friendly paper, to fit behind the film piece. I adhered the film piece onto the copic friendly paper with liquid glue. I then started to color each frame with my Copic Sketch Markers. The colors I used were: B0000, B000, B00, B01, B63, B66, BG11, BG23, BG49, BG72, BG75, BG78, YR000, YR00, YR01, YR30, YR31, Y00, YG06, YG07, YG09, R20, R30, R32, R35, RV10, RV11, BV000, BV00, BV02, E00, E21, E23, E34, E35, E37, E51, E53, E55

I stamped a couple palm trees from Me and My Dinosaur with Jet Black ink and created a sunset beach scene. With a white and black gel pen I added some detail on all of the scenes. For the frame on the right I used Little Mermaiden Agenda stamps. I added some shimmer with my Nuvo Aqua Shimmer Glitter Gloss Pen.

For the frame in the center I decided to go for a sunset sky. In that sunset I used some Black Licorice ink to stamp the sentiment: ‘Enjoy your summer’, using the letters from Little Signage Agenda. Once the panel was fully colored I adhered it to the Mermaid cardstock panel with liquid glue.

I wanted to create a matching colorful background for the card base, so I used Kitsch Flamingo and Dried Marigold Distress Oxide inks. I added some drops of Liquid Stardust mixed with water, picked up the excess water with a paper towel and let everything dry. Once dried I glued the last pieces to my card base and the card was all finished!

Baby Tags featuring the We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool!

Happy Monday! This is Kim Hamilton and I am so very excited to be sharing my first post with you for Butterfly Reflections Ink! This is making my first day back to work after a two-week break a happy one! I am sharing baby gift tags today, one of my friends is expecting and not sure what she is having so I made one of each! I used my We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool for the first time and loved it! I cut my own Tim Holtz watercolor paper to the size of tag I wanted (2 3/4 x 4 1/4) and cut the edges with my trimmer. I stamped my sentiments that are by Lawn Fawn Hello Baby with VersaMark ink and used white embossing powder. For the girl tag I used a mix of Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry and Abandoned Coral Distress Inks and for the boy tag I used Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron Distress Inks . Painting backwards....

Hello, hello! Norine here from The Velvet Lemon blog . It's been a week for introductions hasn't it, but let me just say how delighted I am to have been invited to join such a talented group of paper crafters, and to contribute here at Butterfly Reflections Ink! Today I'm sharing with you, some cards I made by working backwards. What do I mean, you wonder? Well, it's a technique I sometimes enjoy doing, where you "smoosh" your water based ink pads on a craft mat, mist the colors with water and then drag your water color paper through it to create a pretty mess of color. For today's cards, I wanted a blend of blues and greens (always a crowd pleaser) and yellows/pinks. You will always be happier with the results when you keep the green/blues from overlapping with the yellow/pinks, because that just produces an unappealing mud color.
