Hello crafty friends. Davina here, on the blog. It’s been over 5 weeks since I’ve be able to make a card or really be creative. I’m going through a lot and I can’t seem to move out of this creative block. But... today I was scheduled on the blog and really wanted to share something. My card took me twice as long as usually do to the countless hours sitting at the desk and nothing happening. But, I persevered, and feel proud to have made something that I think is cute.
I used the super adorable Outback Critters from Sunny Studios and bright summer colors from the June BRI Moodboard. I wanted an Australian river scene with a variety of cute critters, and since I didn’t want to overwhelm myself, I kept it to a standard size.
I started by stamping out some critters and branches from the Outback Critter set and the cattail scene from the Country Scenes set. I also stamped one leafy tree from an older set, Seasonal Trees, that I thought looked like the eucalyptus branches. I colored everything using colors from the June BRI Moodboard and some neutrals.
After die cutting out all of the images using the coordinating dies, I trimmed some minty colored cardstock into two grassy layers using the Lawn Fawn dies called Meadow borders. I added some gentle ink blending onto the grass to look dry. Next, I inkblended a Sunny yellow sky onto some Bristol Smooth Cardstock that I splattered with clean water, white ink, and a glittery coral ink.
I adhered my layers onto the inky sky panel and popped the closest little grass up on foam tape. I added my critters to the scene and and a cute koala couple in the upper corner making sure to pop up the branches so it looks closer. I also added some foam behind the Lawn Fawn word bubble stamped with the Sunny Studios sentiment “g’ day”
I finished this off with a few golden matte sequins in the sky and I put it all on a nice coral layer to really bring the colors all together.
