Hello everyone! Gladys here and I'm so excited to be back on the BRI blog today. I have a fun underwater theme to share with you so let's dive in shall we. See what I did there! :)
I recently picked up the new Tim Holtz distress oxide ink in prize ribbon and I wanted to use it for an underwater scene so that was my inspiration for this card. I love this vibrant blue tone, I think it's very pretty and perfect for water or sky backgrounds.
I also got this new stamp set called Deep Down from Paperie Ink. I think it came out a couple of months ago and I'm a fan of their illustrations. I will definitely have more cards featuring their cute stamps. I stamped all the images with hybrid ink and colored them using alcohol markers. I fussy cut them out using my cutter bee scissors.
I wanted to use all of the images and in order to fit them all in a card I decide to create a slimline design. I cut out the main panel from Bristol smooth cardstock. This is my favorite paper to use for ink blended background. I used distress oxide inks in the color salvaged patina, cracked pistachio, peacock feathers, salty ocean, and prize ribbon. I started by using the lighter inks in the center then gradually to dark colors outwards or away from the center. To add interest I used a stencil to create sunrays coming down from above. To ground some of the images I cut a piece of kraft cardstock and inked the edges with vintage photo. I used a small paint brush to splatter water droplets onto the panels. I also diluted white acrylic paint to add more texture.
