Good morning crafty friends! Davina here with some cute BRI Moodboard inspiration. Have you seen the September Moodboard yet? It’s so cozy with fall inspired colors like Quartz Pink, Tomato, Moss and Peacock. Very rich and full of Indian Summer Vibes.
I will admit I struggled with ideas initially when thinking of different ideas. Only because I needed a card for a specific purpose, and my brain wanted to make something completely different. I needed a card intended for a boy, and those are always the hardest for me to make. So it became a challenge… I will make a “boy card” using these colors.
My mind turned to critters, and I felt that reptiles were perfect! I used several Lawn Fawn sets that I could build a segmented scene with. I stamped chameleons from Lawn Fawns One in a Chameleon & the Flip Flop One in a Chameleon sets. I also stamped branches, leaves and butterflies from the new Toucan Do It set. Finally I used the cute axolotl from I Like You (a Lotl) I colored everything using copic markers and die cut with the coordinating dies.
I had the Mama Elephant Comic Cover Basic Cuts die on my desk for ages so I thought I would put it to use, and planned my little scenes for each segment of the die. For the center portion I used the new Tropical Leaves Border Die. I inked it in shades of green and cut it in half to get a fuller leafy hedge. I inked and layered multiple sections of sandy hillside and wavy water for the lower background portion, always using up scrap pieces of Bristol smooth cardstock and tons of Lawn Fawn border dies.
I adhered all of my images where they would be centered in the window spaces and created the sentiment using the Long Distance Hugs sentiment set. I finished it off with a few red heart clay sequins that I know won’t make it girly at all. All of these items used are in stock at the online store with links in the description.
I don’t know if I am the only one who struggles with making boy/masculine cards. But it is something I have a hard time with. I’m super pleased I was able to create this cute card and use the gorgeous colors too! It felt like a win. Now I can let the all the girly vibes out for my next project. Don’t forget to play along all month long using the current September Moodboard colors and the #brimoodboard hashtag for you chance to win $20 to the Butterly Reflections Ink shop.
Thank you for dropping by,
Davina
