Hello crafty friends! I'm so excited that it's Thanksgiving week (here in the USA) because there is much to be thankful for despite these crazy times. One thing I am thankful for is the crafting community and how encouraging everyone is 😊 Y'all rock!
Today I'm sharing this card featuring the Mama Elephant Me and My Dragon set. I've seen other cardmakers create northern lights backgrounds and wanted to give it a try because I thought that would make a great background for the cute dragon. Let's just say that I am thankful that I was attempting these northern lights on paper and not tattooing someone because my attempts looked like a hot mess. Fortunately I could just throw away the paper, haha! I still need to practice more and will definitely be attempting this again.
I used Distress oxides (twisted citron, salvaged patina, seedless preserves) and small, thin blending brushes to create the light ribbons. For the night sky, I used chipped sapphire and black soot. I applied Distress Micro Glaze and then splattered white gouache for some subtle stars.
I stamped and colored images (Copic colors listed below) from Me and My Dragon and Snow Globe Bitties. The ground was cut from Mama Elephant's Kingdom Trio and a bit of Distress Ink picket fence was applied to the edge. I used a sentiment from Mama Elephant's Iconic Ornament and white heat embossed it. I thought the sentiment would be great for either a holiday or birthday card. Finally, I added a few white gel pen accents to the images and popped up the images with foam tape to finish off the card.
Thank you for taking the time to stop by today! I hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving week! Happy crafting! 💖Jenn
