Hello crafty friends! Davina here, with a Hamster filled celebration using the new Mama Elephant release, and it’s all available now at Butterfly Reflections Ink. I can’t get enough of these adorable party critters and wanted to markers something special for my post. As I do most times, I’m also using the current BRI Moodboard colors. This color board is a moody romantic collection of grays, pink, and gold. I went with some softer tones for my coloring and just love it.
1. Cut A2 sized panel from sturdy cardstock. Use largest layer for boxcard base and smaller layer for background piece. I cut a white Ornate House CC to also put in the background. I trimmed off the bottom so that the top of the house went to the edge of my pink paper.
2. Cut wing shaped side brackets from sturdy cardstock using Slim Scene Builder. Optional use decorative stitched pieces to match background paper.
3. Using the long straight 1inch die from Slim Scene Builder, cut the sturdy cardstock to make front of boxcard. We will trim this piece to fit.
a. Cut off tabs.
b. Score at 3/8 inch. Measure 4.25 and score again, measure 3/8 inch and cut off
c. With scissors trim the new tabs with a slight angle
4. Optional use the long stitched die included in Slim Scene Builder to cut decorative stitched strip from the background paper. You can trim this to fit and hide the edges with images. Or play around with trying to cut the paper again at desired length.
5. To create inserts use sturdy cardstock and trim to 5.25 x 1.5 inches. Measure 1/2 inch and score, measure 4.25 and score. Reinforce the folds them trim this into long 1/2 wide strips. You can now easily mount any decorative paper on top of those brackets. As long as they are 4.25 inches wide (I like to remove 1/8 inch to reduce bulk on those corners)
6. Using your preferred adhesive mount the brackets into the box. Then adhere your cute colored images.
I had a blast stamping and coloring all of my hamster images. They are so easy to color and look cute no matter what. I applied all of my images making sure I could see everyone from the front and even stamped and decorated the back.
It seems like so much work, but I finished this card from beginning to end in less than 3 hours which is fast for me! I normally take between 4-5 hours for a card so this was a WIN!
There is still over a week to p,at along with the BRI Moodboard color challenge. Play along using all 4 colors and the hashtag #brimoodboard for your chance to win $20 to the Butterfly Reflections Ink shop.thank you for stopping by,
Davina
