June Mood Board

Hello there! Amanda here today to share the June Mood Board and to issue you a challenge! You don't normally see black as a common mood board color and that's because it is often treated as a neutral and not so much an element of design. So today I am challenging you to go bold with black! Make it prominent on you project, not just a small accent or background color. And here is the layout it inspired! Supplies Used: Amelia 6x6 Paper Pad , Atlas Tags , Atlas Chipboard Stickers ,  Striped Florals Stamp Set , True Stories Wood Buttons , Jubilee Hey You RubOns , Cow Print Stencil , This Way Puffy Stickers ,  Enamel Dots , Embossing Paste

Wedding with Modern Blooms - Sharna W.

Hello, its Sharna ! I'm here with another shaker card. You guys know my obsession with shakers. I imagine one day I may get over it but until then! I was requested to make a wedding card and ended up with several but this is my favorite. I've been playing with the Modern Blooms stamps from MFT stamps. This is my first layering set so I had never done it before. It took lots of practice before I got it. My biggest mistake? Not making swatches of my inks. So now I have my inks in color families. This works better for me than by company; especially for this when you need lots of tones in one color. I also ended up going out and buying a bunch of more ink colors! Ha!! Also its a good idea to let your inks dry before moving onto the next layer. I kept everything else simple so my flowers would really stand out. I really love doing these with black accents. Anyone who follows me on Instagram will have seen the other two cards I made with this set which also had black accents.  ...

Crazy Bird Bookmarks

Hello, Emily here with some fun bookmarks to share.  First, i ADORE these  Crazy Birds  by Tim Holtz... they are just so fun to look at and to color.  I started with stamping the birds using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I heat set the images before starting watercoloring them.  I used  Gansai Tambi watercolors  and Ranger's waterbrush .  Even without using watercolor paper, I was still able to blend the colors beautifully.  Next i used Avery Elle's  bookmark die , then laminated my bookmarks.  Finally, I trimmed the laminate and added twines.   Thanks for visiting.  Have a great day!

Your Time to Soar

Hi there! Amber up today with...you guessed it...a watercolor card, lol! Once I'm hooked on a technique, I don't come up for air apparently, lol!! I have a quick one to share today, super simple and lots of fun! I started off with a 3.75x5 piece of watercolor paper. I cut an adhesive sheet with a circle die and stuck the adhesive sheet down on my watercolor paper. **Disclaimer: This was just an experiement, hadn't expected it to come out so well**  Once the paper was stuck down, I pulled out my Gansai Tambi Watercolors and brushed three shades of blue on the paper. I hit it with my heat too and then pulled the tape away and had my negative circle with colorcolor paint around it! You can see where the watercolor seeped under a little bit, but that's okay with me! In my art journaling and mixed media escapades, I've learned to embrace little mistakes and turn them into something great!  I took out my doodle pens and scribbled circles around the negat...

Fresh Cut Floral Hello

Good morning, Jess here!  I have been waiting (semi-patiently, ha!) for the WPlus9 Fresh Cut Florals and accompanying stamp sets to come back in stock and I snagged them as soon as Vanessa got them into the shop!  These stamps and dies create gorgeous floral arrangements! One of my favorites flowers are lilacs and these stamps looked just like a fresh branch off my tree!  I die-cut several flowers from Fresh Cut Florals and then stamped the three layers with Hero Arts shadow inks in Soft Purple, Passionflower , and Grape Juice.  The stems were stamped in Altenew Evergreen ink.  Next I die-cut a container from Fresh Cut Containers and stamped the watering can in Pumice Stone distress ink.  I used watercolor paper for the watering can because I was hoping the inking would be a little uneven to give depth and dimension without having to try too hard! ;) To finish the card I stamped a few more flowers and grasses on the card panel behind the containe...

Relax

Hello! Rubeena here with a really cute Lawn Fawn card! Have you been checking out their new release previews? They come out with the cutest critters! I know you're just as excited as I am for release day! Today's card features only Life is Good stamps and dies . I've been wanting to create more Lawn Fawn scene cards, but this time I tried watercoloring. I'm fairly new to this. I mean, I'm new to coloring altogether! ;-) I used distress ink pads and markers to watercolor everything on this card. As a kid, I didn't get to color much. I mostly read like the inner nerd I am. I feel like the kid in me has come out during my crafting journey.  First, I used a unique size. I saw these watercolor cards 4x9 on an art website and thought they would be cool to use. The size is great for a beach scene, don't you think?! So I started with stamping the sand outline first in Antique Linen and then some waves in the back in Salty Ocean. I used the same inks to c...

Crazy Bird Nursery Wall Art

Good morning!  Heather  here from  Houses Built of Cards ! Have you all seen those adorable Tim Holtz Crazy Bird stamps yet? If you haven't - you have missed out on a lot of cuteness!  Something about the little expressions on these birds make me laugh - I just adore them! I had a friend recently ask me to make a set of Nursery Wall art for her with them. It was going to be a shared boy and girl room for a little while, so she wanted them fairly neutral - no to specifically boy or girl. Here are photos of them - I didn't frame them, but just gave them to her so she could frame them how she wished. She has promised me photos when she has had a chance to do that - so I will make sure and share those when I receive them, but wanted to share them here now, since I happened to see that Vanessa still has one set of these in stock right now as I'm writing this - so run and grab it now if you don't have it yet!!! I used sentiments from Paper Smooches ...
